Have always watched people's purchases of vehicles w/interest. In my city, there is poverty,and I watch people who don't own property buying vehicles that are beyond their means IMO. If you rent(I own a home) you should'nt be buying Brand New, you should be buying the cheapest reliable car you can and saving money for down payment on a home of your own. Brand new is for people who can afford to drive it for 2-3 yrs then trade for new again while loosing 10-15k in depreciation.IMO.ccguns

To be honest Gunz, I have my doubts. Maybe it’s the over 50 years of disappointment but they are just not consistent enough.
I hate to say it but I don’t think they have the goaltending or defence to get there. At least 10 of their wins is because of Mathews as he is the only consistent player.
As you know, you can’t win the cup with just one guy playing hard every night. No matter how good he is.

Lived in the hood for a bit, my take was that something like buying a house was never going to be feasible for many as they are 400k and up here so a nice car was about as much of a status symbol as could be obtained.
Well I can appreciate your pessimism w/history of team,and must confess I have'nt been deep into NHL this winter,I saw the odds on bottom of screen lst week and they were up there near the top. They can't run into the Bruins unless it's in finals am I right,I lost track of re-alignment brackets, don't they at least get to Conf. finals playing only teams from Canada. As far as B's same shit, don't believe in TUUUUUKA in big games always lets in a cheapy at worst times for teams psyche. Case in point GM 7 ST Louis 1st period B,s dominate can't score lst 2 minutes TUUUUUKa lets in a soul crushing cheapy,will never get it done with him between the pipes.ccguns

I realize I’m fortunate to be in the situation I’m in. My house is paid for, I have a bit of money in the bank, zero debt and I still would never purchase a new vehicle.
I can understand that man,did'nt mean as any kind of put down,just the way to get ahead is to SAVE if not for prop. then for piece of mind knowing youre good in an emergency. It's a statistic that a large% of Americans can't handle a $600 emergency. So if you live a little below your means you can save and eventually amass a decent nut.ccguns

I was there to live cheap and save to buy a house, but for most they were never going to save up enough for a down payment. Just living stretched their means, where I am housing values have increased drastically relative to income and go up so much year over year people can't keep up. Don't get me wrong, the folks that don't save and just buy a sweet car are dumb as shit, but at the same time I think most of them realized that bigger dreams probably wouldn't happen and just settled for what they could realistically accomplish.
Not only that,but I see a lot of wealth at my job,and it does'nt guarantee happiness, money is like dope,the high isn't the same as you get used to it.Then you're right back at square one looking in the mirror
Yeah,thats the main prob. people who were once entry level middle class are now firmly working class,the wealth disparity thing is no myth,I'm fortunate to have inherited and am a very humble homeowner. Gentrification is also a major issue as well. Highly educated people move in areas and their high incomes drive up everything, inevitably this puts extreme pressure on those who are longtime residents of modest means just holding on to what they have as taxes go up etc. It's a big and increasingly common issue in the US. As a child I remember families of 5-6 people owning a home w/1 income and mom being a housewife. Those days are long gone now as it usually takes 2 decent incomes to enter the middle class.I'm not sure that is progress IMO.ccguns

Bought a new car the last year at work. If I knew the winter was going to be as mild as it was that year I would have put it off for a year. Got one of those cars that they advertise to get you in. Then people think they want this option, that one, sorry, this car doesn't have it (I would have liked heated steering wheel and tinted windows). But then it would not be the price as advertised and the cost of the two options but a higher base price and you might have to buy a package to get it. The salesman was not to enthusiastic when I drove the car ans said I will take it. Unless the electric thing takes off and gas cars get run off the road it might be my last car. It is the first car I bought new. When I first paid off my first house I was driving a $200 Bug. Bought a $100 down filled coat at the time because the car was not built for prairie winters. Not unusual to see the driver scraping the inside of the windshield while driving.
Man, I bitch about winter in SEMass, as far as I'm concerned all you Canadians are hearty souls to put up w/your winters. SE mass is almost Florida when put up against winter in Canada. I'd be too put off by weather up there to even consider outdoor cannabis growing there though I know its done it would be to limiting to interest me.ccguns

It depends on where you are. The prairies usually have cold winters but southern Ontario is probably milder than Mass (It was 18 C here yesterday). I have a son who lives in Victoria and golfs all year round.

If you understand that passage, please explain because I don't. I can understand why he's so bitter. He has no home. His GOP is the epicenter of Trump's white supremacy movement. Black people shun him because he really ought to know better than try to snuggle up to other Republicans, like Cindy Hyde Smith (Senator from Mississippi) who joked about lynching and depriving "the wrong people" of their vote. But there he is, front and center, being the exception that proves the rule. He can't admit the GOP has a white supremacy problem. So he made up a new term that sounds truthy enough to justify his self imposed tunnel vision that prevents him from seeing racism that is so evident in that political party.
