Trump was a criminal president, not a law and order or law abiding president. The White House said in February that admitting to past marijuana use on background check forms would not automatically disqualify candidates for White House jobs. But several knowledgeable sources told The Daily Beast that dozens had been fired, placed on probation, or put in a remote-work program because they had acknowledged previous drug use. All Presidents are law and order Presidents. Never seen one that wasn't. So they say.
If congress put a pot legalization or rescheduling bill on Joe's desk he would sign it. About a half dozen were fired for pot but many more were not, perhaps they only fired the chronics! If you work in the WH you work for Joe in a high profile job, often with lot's of responsibility, agreeing not to smoke pot while you are employed by the WH is not a real big ask. Pot is still illegal under federal law, perhaps those fired were from states where it was still illegal?
Joe is also commander and chief of the armed forces, they have their own pot policy and it doesn't matter what state you are from. Change the law, this seems more about legal and ethical consistency than about Joe's personal preferences. The democratic base is all for legalization of pot, the GOP is somewhat split on the issue and legalization might make a good issue to divide them with in 2022, since 67% want legalization.
