PC fans not working with 12v power supply.

Bought two PC fans to work as active intakes because it's really hot where i live. They came with a 3pin+4pin, so i cut them off and wired the black with the black and the black/white stripe to the black/white stripe. Standard.....Then i isolated the (probaly) PWM wire. It worked for a bit then stopped. Tried several other combinations with some fan movement but no success. Don't think i fried them because i still get some movement touchhing the first and third wire with the 12v and ground on the power supply (weird).
Am i doing something wrong or the fans came broken?

sorry i can't find where mine are but don't remember a black/white wire, think it was black red yellow if memory serves correct

looks like the amps are too much but i'm not an electrician, i had a 3 pin plug that you can switch the amp and volts from the back

Connect the power wire and PWM to 12V supply, ground to supply ground and isolate the Hall sensor wire.
Fans will draw amps needed, so as long as your supply covers the demand your good.

Yes, i have another fan with red and black wire that works just fine but this one its just a different color scheme.

The power wire is the positive one? Red or (black and white stripes) in my case. The ground would be the negative (black only)? Sorry if this sounds confusing, i have done this other times and never had any problem...
The fan came with three wires that ended up in a 3pin connected to a 4pin. I just cut them off and was left with the 3 wires glued together in this way: black - black - black with white stripes.
