Well worth the read.

Im not far into it at all, And then I walked away and totally forgot what I was going to type. But I now remember the thread that the link was in.

Now I remember.

Basically that article makes me think that Trump/Republicans just traded "Jews" for "Democrats/Libs/Left" and rolled with the Nazi playbook.

A Pennsylvania mother of eight on the run from authorities for her role in the Capitol riot has been arrested by the FBI, according to federal prosecutors.

Rachel Marie Powell of Sandy Lake, Pennsylvania, “is in custody,” Margaret Philbin, a spokesperson for the Pittsburgh U.S. Attorney’s Office, told The Daily Beast.

Powell, 40, was apprehended Thursday night in New Castle, according to Philbin. She could not immediately be reached for comment, and does not yet have a lawyer listed in court records.

The cheese and yogurt purveyor—dubbed “the bullhorn lady” after video emerged of Powell appearing to shout orders through a bullhorn during the Jan. 6 sacking of the Capitol—was apparently not home when the FBI raided her house Thursday afternoon. Neighbors told local news reporters that Powell and her family had lived there for several years but mostly kept to themselves.

According to a complaint filed Friday in federal court, Powell is facing charges of obstruction, depredation of government property, entering a restricted building with a dangerous weapon, and violent entry/disorderly conduct. She was scheduled to appear before a judge at 3 p.m.

The filing says Powell used a pipe to smash a window at the Capitol, causing more than $1,000 in damages. An anonymous tipster first outed Powell to the FBI, it explains, and gave agents the link to Powell’s Facebook profile. There, agents were able to match photos of Powell wearing a distinctive set of earmuffs with those she was seen wearing at the Capitol.

After being seen on video during the Jan. 6 riot in a pink hat and sunglasses, Powell gained her signature moniker, though she was also known as “Pink Hat Lady.”

via FBI
“People should probably coordinate together if you’re going to take this building,” Powell shouted through a shattered window to a group of insurrectionists inside the Capitol. “We got another window to break to make in-and-out easy.”

Powell, who became the subject of her own FBI “Wanted” poster, agreed to an interview with Ronan Farrow of The New Yorker before she was charged.

Originally from Anaheim, California, Powell told Farrow that she acted spontaneously on Jan. 6, and was “not part of a plot.”

“I have no military background.... I’m a mom with eight kids,” she said. “That’s it. I work. And I garden. And raise chickens. And sell cheese at a farmers’ market.... Listen, if somebody doesn’t help and direct people, then do more people die? That’s all I’m going to say about that. I can’t say anymore. I need to talk to an attorney.”

Here’s What a Ton of Capitol Rioters Had in Common (thedailybeast.com)

Here’s What a Ton of Capitol Rioters Had in Common

ISOLATED BOYS
OK, so a lot of them were white men. But there are other traits, too, new research shows.

When Trump supporters flooded D.C. on Jan. 6, many had traveled from hometowns where they felt like political outcasts—and where hate groups like the Proud Boys acted like a beacon for the far right, new research suggests.

Nearly 200 people are facing federal charges for their alleged attacks on the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6. Prominent among them are members of the Proud Boys, a far-right paramilitary group that Canada designated as a terrorist organization on Wednesday. Even though most of the rioters were not Proud Boys, researchers from the University of Chicago and University of Michigan found that people who lived near Proud Boys chapters were more likely to have attended the riot or the rally that preceded it.

It’s not because Proud Boys only set up shop in solidly red areas, either. Rather, the researchers concluded, rally attendees were likely to have traveled from Republican-voting “islands,” where they felt—however unreasonably—besieged by nearby liberals, and where some Proud Boys chapters have gone recruiting.

The researchers used anonymized cellphone data to trace rally attendees back to their home neighborhoods. Unsurprisingly, many of those neighborhoods saw high turnout for Donald Trump in the 2020 election.

But researchers also wanted to look at the voting habits of surrounding areas.

“We wanted to see what happens when Trump supporters are isolated—that is to say, their communities were surrounded by other communities where support for Trump was lower,” Austin Wright, an assistant professor of public policy at the University of Chicago, told The Daily Beast.

He and his co-author found an increased rate of turnout from those areas. Wright attributed the phenomenon to “negative intergroup contact,” i.e. Trump supporters feeling threatened by neighboring liberals.

“People feel like they’re isolated or in some ways feel like they are being attacked or they’re under threat,” he said, adding that events like the Jan. 6 rally at the Capitol are “potentially one of the ways they can act out.”

His study points to longstanding research suggesting “that perceived isolation can trigger feelings of fear and subsequent aggression.”

Many rally attendees had something else in common: proximity to regional Proud Boys chapters. Even after taking into account an area’s pro-Trump leanings, and Republicans’ possible feelings of isolation, researchers found a significant correlation between Jan. 6 rally attendance and living near a Proud Boys headquarters.

Many of those chapters are located in blue or blue-bordering neighborhoods, where far-right Proud Boys might feel at odds with their neighbors.

Make it as painful as possible for anybody voting to acquit him, that shouldn't be hard to do, the facts speak for themselves. Also he will most likely be criminally indicted in a matter of months for the same crime he is being impeached for, inciting an insurrection, his trial and conviction for it by the courts in a few months would look especially bad for the republican senate, if they acquit him. The senate was both witness to and victim of this crime, if the republican senators don't have the guts to defend themselves from this shit, they won't defend America.

Trump’s allies fear the impeachment trial could be a PR nightmare
The ex-president's boosters fear major reputational damage if next week’s hearings focus on the violence of Jan. 6 and not narrow questions about the Constitution.

Allies of former President Donald Trump are imploring his impeachment team to avoid one specific topic when they defend the ex-president at his Senate trial next week: the deadly riot that unfolded at the U.S. Capitol.

Despite Trump’s likely acquittal on charges that he incited an insurrection, some of his most ardent supporters fear the trial could further damage his reputation if his attorneys wade into the events of Jan. 6, when five people were killed — including a Capitol police officer — after pro-Trump demonstrators stormed the halls of Congress.

The former president, whom House Democrats have accused of inciting the rioters at a rally earlier the same day, is already hemorrhaging support within the GOP. Recent public polls have shown a sharp decline in support among Republican voters for a potential Trump comeback bid in 2024. And a widely televised trial that reminds voters and lawmakers of the disturbing moments when MAGA devotees assaulted law enforcement officials and broke into the Capitol building could harm his future political aspirations even more.

“The Democrats have a very emotional and compelling case,” said former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon. “They’re going to try to convict him in the eyes of the American people and smear him forever.”

Trump’s legal team appears to have similar trepidations that next week’s proceedings will turn into a high-profile retelling of the riots and his role in them. To prevent that from happening, his lawyers have centered their case on whether it is constitutional to impeach a president after he’s left office. They also plan to argue that he did not engage in insurrection, saying his fiery speech on the ellipse of the White House was protected by the First Amendment, without indulging a lengthy discussion about what happened on Jan. 6.

‘QAnon Shaman’ unrecognizable in mugshot from Virginia jail

The accused Capitol rioter dubbed the QAnon Shaman is sporting a new look — sans horns — in this newly released mugshot.

The notorious shaman, whose real name is Jacob Chansley, is virtually unrecognizable without the furry headdress, horns and face paint in the jailhouse photo released by officials in Alexandria, Va.

Mugshots of federal inmates are difficult to obtain, according to Law and Crime, which published the photo.

In 2016, the 6th Circuit Court of Appeals held that suspects can assert privacy interests in booking photos. The majority of judges in that case ruled that mugshots “convey guilt” and “haunt the depicted individual for decades,” the outlet reported.

However, as in Chansley’s case, federal inmates are sometimes housed by state or local law enforcement agencies, which may release the images pursuant to underlying state law.

On Thursday, Chansley was moved to a jail in Virginia after a federal judge ordered authorities to provide him with organic food while he’s in custody.

He was transferred to the Alexandria Detention Center after his lawyer argued that his client had gone nine days without eating because organic food wasn’t served at the jail in DC.
