I started off With happy frog in red solo cups and had to be away for a week or 2 so they stayed in them for too long. I transferred into 5 gal recently using Big Rootz soil. Considered a super soil they said at the hydro store. They recommended using BioCanna Rhizotonic and BioCanna Vega.. I spoke to some growers and they said it was not necessary in super soil. Thoughts? I have been using the ph meter on my water but have yet to hit them with nutes.... based on research it looks like it’s a magnesium or potassium deficiency.. Anyway I can fix it? Any help is appreciated whether it’s advice or identifying the problem. Thank you!!!

Could be the common cal-mag problem a lot of people have...do you use LED lights too?
I'm no good at nute probs, but heres a chart that might help some.

I run my LED about 6 inches from my plants, but mine are ghetto homemade things, but they are about 100 watts a panel on lowest setting. :P
I believe its around 20", but best to get someones opinion that has one.
I'm sure someone will be along soon to chime in...lol

I think your light is either too close, or the intensity is ramped up too much. The way those leaf edges are curling in tells me something might be wrong there.

Considering how the damaged leaves are so dark green, and that the damage looks kind of like a cross between nute burn, potassium excess and magnesium excess, I would say they are getting too many nutrients.

If your temps are a little hot, it could be exacerbating the damage.

Thank you for the chart! I’m currently running a HLG 650 Rspec. I’m about 18 in from the top of the canopy.
Hey man, I run an HLG 600 and you are nuking them. How may watts you pulling? Do you have the light dialed way down? You should be at 50% at. 30" for veg and. 24" full power for flower. Adjust the light up slowly the 2nd week of 12/12 until you reach full power over 5 days or so. If you are at 18" full power at this stage of their lives you are giving them way too much light. That 650 should never be 18" from the light.

EDIT: Sorry to be rude, Welcome to RIU :bigjoint:

I knew someone could shine a better light on the specifics...lol :P
Thanks @Doug Dawson.

Light burn in my opinion. Those HLG 650Rs are no joke. Back that thing up. And they could be dealing with a little bit of transplant shock if you just put them in new soil. Your super soil could be hotter than happy frog so they may be suffering from a bit of nute burn. Back the light off and keep an eye on them. I wouldn’t add any additional nutes for a few weeks. Super soil shouldn’t need extra nutes.

Thank you! Only my 2nd time and brand new with this light. Figured go big or go home, I knew it was a great light but glad to know it’s that bad ass lol. Not rude at all! I appreciate the feedback. The guy at the hydro store said to slowly turn them up but I had no idea how often and at what rate to turn it up... he said 12-18”. Must be a miscommunication.. This is how far it’s turned now.. at about 18”

If you're at 18" you'd need to turn it down to like 20%. The beauty of LEDs is that they don't create heat so you can damn near set them on top of the plants. I keep mine less than 12" and turn them wayyyyy down in order to save electricity when the plants are young. I also get them real close towards the end of flowering to get the maximum amount of photons to the plants. Back it off to 30" at around 50% and then either lower them every couple days or crank the power up a bit. Try not to adjust power and height at the same time. Work with one variable at a time until you learn how your plants react to your light.

Okay... I kept it right where it was as far as brightness and gonna move it up to 30” and see how it goes there. At 12” or however far off you are if you ever get a chance to send a picture of your Brightness dial (idk what to call it lol) i’d greatly appreciate it!

Thank you for the reply!! That’s what I found with research as well. Idk why the guy at the hydro store said to.

Here's a tip...don't listen to the guys at the hydro store. 9/10 don't have any fuckin clue what they're talking about!
Truth. I've been growing longer than most of the employees at my local hydro stores have been alive and I swear every time they try to talk to me about actual growing I feel like 8 wandered into the real life newbie section.

I've been at it less than a year and I constantly overhear them giving bad information
