Flower fuel ? Bud candy ? Terpinator?

These products are designed to suck new growers in...then people are like, "hey, look at my awesome buds, these products work" but that's only because they don't realize they can grow the EXACT same buds with a regular 1, 2, or 3 part formula. There are some things that add to a grow, but which are totally unnecessary. I like fulvic acid a lot, but it isn't improving my buds-from what I can tell, I just use less nutrients with it for the same result. Instead of those products, people should try out the bio-fungicides for PM and botrytis prevention because at some point you are likely to see one or the other. OR try out one or two things that "stimulate acquired resistance" like aspirin water (cheap!) or chitosan.
I figured it was hype but wasn’t sure . As far as pm goes , yeah I’ve sadly had to deal with that before . I’ve heard of aspirin water . I ended up using neem oil . And then in flower I had to keep a fan outside to keep my plants as dry as possible lol what a pain outdoor grow is . Haven’t dealt with any of that so far on the indoor lol

I use Flower Fuel to bump up my PK in flower. I run Maxigro 10-5-14, so I need some extra P in flower. Works great for me, doesnt take much. Seems to encourage denser nugs

I was messing with a whole bunch of stuff but last run almost done I went cheap maxi bloom lol scoop a gal and its just steller way happier with the flower. I was using Mega crop and the sweet candy bud explosion its all collecting dust and clumped up trash.

Was wondering if they all do the same thing . Seems like all the descriptions read aroma , potency , size .... are they all the same ? Thanks in advance .
Terpinator
Bud candy
Flower fuel

The first one concentrates use of K sulfate. Sulfates in all their forms, does effect terpene production. It looks as though the differing forms of? Enhance different terpine profiles. IE - K sulfate effects grape like terps - Mg sulfate effects the citrus terpene's.

I don't know... I use Bud Candy, Big Bud, and Overdrive. I'm in week 6 and my plants look/smell great and have some solid bud density. These pics were taken in Week 5 and they're even bigger now (no I'm not loyal to any brand, I just decided to give these a try and I've been surprised). My $.02.View attachment 4787884

These fucking monkeys - AN.
Lack proper balancing OF those compounds in their regular formula's!
Hence, you spend more on added stuff to get where the rest of us can get - with out them.

Although - AN does work. Even when NOT using all the supplemental shit....

They're "harvesting" your wallet!

BTW, N looks a tic or so high! DARK green leaves with that classic "glossy" high N expressed... Might be the light or the exposure but, the last pic says high N.

Nicely trained and trimmed! Good work on those.

I think the plant with the darker leaves is a genetic thing. It’s my only plant that looks like that and is a different strain. I’m only feeding them 800-900ppm with very little N.

I don’t know if it’s AN is price gouge or not based on results, but so admit I’m a relatively new grower. With my next harvest I’m going to do some experiments with plants having supplements and plants with base nutrition only. The goal being to see if there is in fact a difference. For a novice like myself, the results of my grow have been pretty good. My biggest challenge though has been getting my light intensity dialed in properly.

is 10-5-14 not a bit high in N for flowering?
Nope. In fact, this particular strain may need more. Balanced base nutrient is all anyone needs start to finish, coupled with proper environment, equals success. From there, each strain is different and will require a couple runs to dial in.
Jacks 20-20-20 and Megacrop are also popular base nutrients that will get you there start to finish.

Does she look like she has too much N? Doesnt look like it to me.

Best of luck everyone, happy growin

I considered getting some Maxibloom for flower until i realized i was able to up my pk with something i already had and create the same thing. Did you run Maxibloom for the whole grow or just switch in flower?

Years back I used to flower with veg nutrients, just add a PK as they really need it in flower when using a veg base in bloom

I'd say calling amendments snake oil is going overboard. Terpinator is a popular product because it works; I've seen it first hand. OTOH, I've recently decided to drop it from my formula. It is true that most of this stuff is just sugar and/or salt mixed in water. Ultimately, they all engage in marketing hype. Unfortunately, that's just life. If Big Bud is claiming more potency, bigger yields and better overall quality and the Terpinator bottle says, "Sugars and salts diluted in water, then Terpinator will sit on the shelf forever.

These products have a legitimate place in the industry/hobby. Look at Quintana's results. If those were unnecessary nutes, then IMHO, he'd be experiencing lock out or nute burn. To make an analogy, is Grease Monkey ripping me off when they charge 2-3x what I could buy the oil for? I think it's money well spent. OTOH, my brother changes his own oil. Am I being ripped off; I don't think so.

If you don't want to pay the nutrient companies for their nutes, you can scour the web and find alternatives. Or maybe you would prefer to do other things with your time and grabbing bottles off the shelf works better for you. Just be careful with those amendments - too much of any amendment or too many different amendments can fry your plant.

Here's a Terpinator alternative.

Entering week 6 of flowering, been adding Terpinator, Nirvana, carboload,

I've been buying powdered nutrients for many years from Alpha Chemicals and other suppliers (N, K, P, Sulpher, urea, ammonia, etc.) and mixing up my own batches with molasses, leftover beer from parties, etc. on my hostas, roses and other garden plants, but then again i have 40+ years of experience f'n around with garden plants. However, killing a rose at $30 a plant doesn't come anywhere close to comparing it to over nut'ing and killing a cannabis plant :wall:, so i therefore know shit in this area, especially when it comes to the flowering phase, and in what you can use in order to maximize bud size and quality - and im way too afraid to try f'n around.

im therefore using half the recommended dilution of Miracle-Gro Bloom Buster (15, 30,15) every 2-3 days (i like it because it also contains trace amounts of zinc, boron, copper, molybdenum, manganese and iron, which are all needed micro nut's), AND, bud candy and big bud at their recommended ratios, and so far my girl is starting to look nice and plump - just the way i like all my women. (that is not meant as a sexist comment, that is a personal preference.)

(And yes, as Rurumo said, the marketing ppl are targeting newbies 'cause they don't know any better, but who the hell doesn't react to an add that says: "Hey, want monster bigger and sweeter tasting and potent bud's? Guaranteed results in 24 hours."):lol::lol:

The only "bloom boosters" that really have any merit are magnesium and potassium sulfate. Sulfur really does have a huge impact on the quality of the finished product, esp terpenes. I'm also a big believer in fish hydrolysate/amino acids-but again, that could be directly related to the sulfur containing amino acids. Nothing needed beyond a good complete formula all the macro and micro nutrients though. Sad to see all the bottled BS people buy, might as well just water your plants with Fiji water if you have cash you want to burn.

Sulphates, eh? <thinking emoji>
Yeah, I'm also a big fan of fish hydrolusates and bat guano (it has a nice organic balance of 6,6,6)

PS. we need some better emojis.

For some reason I firmly believe that adding specific nutrients, hormones, amino acids, glycogens, or what-have-you, during the bloom phase will enhance the quality and size of the buds, just like i firmly believe that all the protein powder I've been taking will one day turn me into an Arnold Schwarzenegger or Miloš Šarčev.
