So what seems to be the issue? You really feel that you don't have the coverage with 550 watts of LED? I grew one plant in a 15 gallon pot under two HLG 260's 3000k QB's and pulled close to 14 ounces with no tent... Really surprised that you don't think its enough. What are you experiencing to feel that way?

What its about is the PPFD map.
Some (most) LEDS focus on their center PPFD number being super high, but suck at dispersing that light evenly across a large area.
Its really important to watch this
Spiderfarmer does a good job, Geekbeast does an even better job. The PRO 630W is insanely effecient, and does a crazy good job "lighting the corners"

You most definitely can out preform an HID with LED using new tech.
My 450w Spiderfarmer will out perform a 600w hps no doubt. Its darn close in comparison to my 1000w hps

For guys running HID - what kind of setup gives you the most control of the heat output from the light in a 4x4? I’m considering either a cool tube or enclosed hood... would be vented with a 6” that draws across the hood and to the outside, will likely go with a Cloudline with the smart control.

That makes sense - would you throw in a 600 or 1000? I’m afraid the 1000w would throw too much heat but I want to put as much light in there as I can, it would be in a 6x4 room with a sloped ceiling from 5’ to 7’ tall, 4x4 grow area

I like 600's myself. Like you said, you will have a lot more heat to deal with a 1k, especially with a ceiling that low. In fact, I'd consider LED in that situation, if you have the budget.

If I had the cash I would pick up a Timber Redwood. Was also looking at building a set up with qb96 v2 elites, but the cost pretty much seems to shake out the same.
I also like the idea of mixing a 315cmh with leds. I just wish I could lay out more cash rn

A Timber is like $800, right? A HLG QB96 rig shouldn't be much more than $600 for equal wattage. $180 for two HLG-320H-54A drivers. $$380 for six QB96's. $40 for misc wire, connectors, and hangers.

yup, i guess there would be some savings there by doing a build
I really just need to boost my budget, I don't think there's any other way lol

You could start with just 4 QB96's at 480watts total. That's what I did for my 4x4, and added two more after one grow.

Two 240's. Now I run three QB96's per 240 for a total of around 480watts. It's plenty of light for me, and frankly you can crank those A type drivers way past 240watts. I can hit close to 300watts with both dials set to max.
