Hey Oklahomies, does anyone know the best grow supply shops around OKC, North OKC, or Edmond area?
I know there’s voodoo hydro in Lawton they always have good prices and super friendly. They are veteran owned and have like 18000 some odd sqft of stuff in there. I frequent them often Their prices beat online most times and they’ll even give you a beer while you shop lol.

Next time I'm down that way I'll check them out.

Wow. Sounds like my kind of store.

Oklahoma is mentioned in this news article. Looks like out of state money trying to get in on OK action.

It looks like the residency issue is not being enforced at the moment, pending some existing court challenges:

I bought a couple of things off of Amazon to try. The first one I got in was a 72 spot hothouse with a heat mat and some Root Riot cubes. The unit is very flimsy, but it'll prob work. You'd prob have to buy a new one each round because they are so cheaply built... IN CHINA!... but the heat mat is good. I also am going to try Rapid Rooters (will be here tomorrow) I got 2 50 spotters.
@DoubleAtotheRON I ended up rolling the dice and ordered the following off of Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised. The trays are as tough as the best I've had previously, and the domes aren't too flimsy either. They're not the cheapest for sure, but they are good quality.

This is very similar to the one I got along with the 2 50 spot Rapid Rootoers. Really liking the RR because there is a Rez in the tray to be wicked up by the pods.

The weather can be brutal here. High heat, winds, hail, bugs... every personal plant I put outdoor got bud rot as well.
I've seen 1 local outdoor grow, they were huge compared to mine, but the smoke sucked. I know they were in pots to be able to be moved for bad weather conditions. Just wondered if I could do it better myself. I'll ask more questions when I get more serious about it.

Look at the second post on this thread https://www.rollitup.org/t/oklahoma-growers-thread.1037697/post-15941709

Outdoor is doable, but you'll never get it as good as what you can do indoor. You just can't control the environmental stressors and pests like you can with a clean, controlled environment.

Happy New Years to you all! Just looking for some advice to a Cali grower that’s looking to uproot and head your way. I know you all have heard this all before but were not trying to cause any turbulence in your waters or your markets so nothing to sweat. If you guys have any good insight for me coming from Cali I would greatly appreciate it! I’ve read thru as much as I can, just looking for some local knowledge and experience getting thru all the hoops. Thank you in advance and wish you all a happy new year! Feel free to message me or comment here.
Cheers

Market's got a lot of people trying to get in. Still not as flooded as CA was in the late 2000's. More structured than CA was when it was med only. I was in CA for 10yrs during the early days of the not-for-profit med coops and collectives doing cash only biz. Not like that here at all. There's been overproduction in the most recent outdoor season pushing the wholesale prices way down, even for good quality indoor. I live near OKC, in an area that's not too densely populated, esp compared to SoCal, and there are at least 10 dispensaries within 1 mile of me.

No cap on commercial licensing...yet. Legislation was passed requiring 2 years residency in OK for at least 75% of ownership in a commercial op. That is currently being challenged by a few lawsuits mentioned, so we don't know how it will shake out.

It's way more affordable to live and do business here, but also the pay/profit is proportionally less (to a degree). There are a lot of people trying to jump in now.

If you're Cali native, and you've never been in real weather....then get ready to know what's up...get a tornado helmet:D! For me, I grew up here, so it's home. For most people from the coast, it's fly over country. It can be hard to adjust.

I'm not trying to destroy anyone's dreams, but I'm just trying to be real. Can you get in the biz and make a living...I think so. Is it the best thing to do to relocate from Cali to here...maybe...it depends on your circumstances.

Good luck! Peace!

Much love! Thank you for the insight Tracker ! I’ve been running underground off and on since 08 and ready to make the shift. Not planning on getting rich but just make a decent living and give the same to a few locals willing to be elbow to elbow thru it!

Here's my take on it. .. We have more growers than Cali, Wa, and OR combined. There are around 18 dispensaries per 22,000 population with only maybe 10% of those being card holders. There was no cap on growers, processors, etc. Everyone and their grandma are trying commercial growing. Being over 2 years into it, Im already seeing people selling lights, dehuyes, coolers, etc. I think we are beyond capacity. Im seeing Dispo's close up because they just can't compete. We used to sell by the pounds, now people mostly buy by the QP. They're trying to carry 130 strains, and most of the time it just goes bad sitting on the shelf. You give someone 130 choices, and they're gonna lock up and just buy what they have heard of before. Not trying to kill your dreams bro, but it's a tough market... especially right now with all the outdoor sitting around .. there are literally 100's of tons of it sitting around trying to go to processors, but they will only do splits. We got royally fucked on a split deal on trim. We just got our check in today for $614 for 9 lbs of quality trim that this guy took in April to process into batter, shatter, diamond sauce, etc. I've seen business partnerships break up because of one thing or another, growers going from one company to the next chasing that dollar.
We branded very early on.. there's not a county in Oklahoma that has not seen our logo, or heard of our Company, but the Dipso's have so many choices of growers that it's become a race to the bottom. 2 things that I wished they would have put into the 788 law.. 1.. no out of State owners. 2. a cap on growers, processors, dispensaries. They fucked the whole thing up by allowing these 2 things. The law stated that you could put seed in soil on Sept 27th 2018. I saw dry bud on the shelf in October. How the fuck does that happen unless your out of State partner brought it in from another State??
There is absolutely no loyalty in this business. If you supply a quality product, and the Dispo can buy it for $100 a lb cheaper from someone else, they will do it. Right now, the average wholesale for quality indoor is ~$2000-$2500 a lb. Outdoor is going for $650-$750 a lb. Trim is fucking tough to move, even if it flows like lava. $100 to $200 max a lb. I used to sell it for $550. Now you can't hardly find anyone that will just buy it, they want to do a split 50/50 AFTER they process it and sell it all.
A lot of growers have investors (we don't), and they get pushed to flip early, have a tight schedule to trim, and generally breathe down their necks most of the time. Fortunately, we had the capital to do a new buildout, and start our own grow without any help. We get up at noon, go work when we want to, and have no bosses.. but, it's still alot of work, and I enjoy it most of the time (I hate harvest) LOL....anyways... here's the numbers by the OMMA.. current standing businesses with current licensing.......Screen Shot 2020-12-31 at 11.28.52 PM.png
