Hi!
I've been making hash out of 99 % ISO for about 2 years now (have bubble hash bags, but didn't have enough product until my last harvest & just haven't gotten the nerve to use 3+ oz at one time yet!), and when I harvested my White Widow this year, the consistency changed. I've had it come out this way before, but just on occasion. This one does it almost EVERY time and it's frustrating!
Normally, I get a sticky dark brown blob. (I make a tincture and reduce it all the way- the last half on a Corelle plate-easier to scrape than a pie plate due to the soft curve rather than the sharp turn at the edge) When I scrape it, it used to just come right off if I kept the plate warm over the hot water & fan while I scraped it off the blade each time- otherwise, it could be harder & crystallize.
When I do a batch with White Widow, it's mostly crystals. It's very hard to scrape off, and the little crystals bounce everywhere; all over my thumb as I scrape (can't get that off with the razor!), all over the counter, which is granite, so I can scrape some of it off, etc;....but, it's hard to deal with and I don't know how much I'm measuring when I put it in the pipe. So, I think I end up using too much; partly because I have to have enough to get me to sleep through the night. It's the ONLY way I can due to an illness I have (besides medicines, which even though some work, they only do for a day or two. I also don't like taking them).
When I searched for this, the only thing I found on crystals said pressing it would work, and I've never done that. I use 10 gms of cannabis, so I get about 1gm of hash. About half that is crystals, so not enough to put in the press that came with the bubble bags.
Any suggestions? Is pressing the way to go?
thanks!
