what do you guys think about heavy fan leave defoliating after flowering stretch ?

Went with first instinct to start chopping leaves covering bud sights and and at the bottom but wonder if there’s a such thing to get to carried away or if I should be defoliating at all. I’ll drop a before mid and after defoliated picture . 6 plants , 400 to the wall Led Lights aiming for a pound . FEEDBACK plz.

What can a bud site do with light?
I see that the same as taking rose leafs off and leaving the buds that can do absolutely nothing with light.

stretched out??thought that only came from weak light source? my light was 16 inches from canopy, there are also 3 different strains growing 2 diff Indica and and 3 sativa all of same strain

so in the future don’t defoliate ?? As you can see j didn’t take off ALL of the fans leaves . Just the big ones , i was doing all this reading about removing fan leaves and shifting energy in producing buds .

The leafs absorb co2, perspire/cool, store food, turn light into sugars, they are the energy.

Oh, so how will this affect the rest of my grow?
Yield wont be as good as it could have been.

ok. If you were trying to flower a plant with a regular house lightbulb, it would need to stay within 1-2 inches. Its all about your footprint-watts per square foot. How big is your footprint and how many watts are you running? If its not 40-50 watts per square foot, its not enough.

I can't say buddy it's not something I do, there is the occasional leaf that's better removed but that's my limit,
some people do however and get good results, only time will tell for sure?

I never trim a single leaf. I might take the scrap off the bottom of the stem but that's about it.

Defoliate or not? That's an old question. I was one to just leave them alone and let nature take it's course but that does not always work. Currently I have 4 plants in a 4x4 and I did a massive defoliation and Lolli popped them. That was a first for me. The canopy had gotten so thick even with 4 fans I could not get air through them and I was finding puddles of water on leaves where the plant would sweat. The leaves were just stacked on top of each other and I needed to deal with that before flowering. I am no expert on this to be sure but I can attest to the resilience of a healthy plant. Here is a before and after.

A couple days later this is the canopy.

They are budding great now and I am back to needing to take a bunch more leaves off so I can keep the air moving through the canopy. It is possible this was a big mistake but the plant has shown no signs of disapproval so far. Time will tell how they finish.
