Bho Extraction Quick question

Hello Everyone

I am new to the whole BHO extraction and is just entering.
So I did my first open blast of some old cured trim. I used a mix of whip it branded butane cans if that matters I can get more information.
Mainly the question is after about 100+ hr in the vac oven @ 85 degrees Flipping the slab every 48 hrs, the overall Shatter looks great very stable at room temp and dabs clean in my opinion. The only thing the oil is very dark in color and not that gold yellow everyone likes.
Now I just trying to get a fact or if a myth. Someone said to me the dark color was due to plant material. Now I did a great amount of research and I was like no that is not true but I valued this person's opinion as they have started long before me.
To my understanding butane is a hydrocarbon and does not strip the chlorophyll from the plant. I believe it is dark due to the age of the trim used for the extraction. The trim is old old dry trim that has been sitting for about a year.
Can someone give me some advice?

Any bho I've made has been always been dark, if you spread it thin on glass you'll see the light brown/honey colour.

The older the trim/product, the darker the oil will be... freshly harvested, or “live” concentrates are generally very light in color. The reason your product is very dark is because it is aged. And while it is generally fairly dead, there is a concentrates sub-forum.
So use fresh product if you are looking for that light, semi-translucent gold concentrate; even if not freshly frozen to make live, you can just dry the trim within a couple weeks of harvest and end up with very light color product.
