Gavita 1700e or Timber Redwood VS?

Hello! Planning to pick up a new light but can’t decide between the Gavita 1700e or the Timber Redwood VS. Cost is not an issue, just looking for the best of the two! Planning to use it in a 4x4 growing in soil.
Also, could a guy get away with putting a Timber Fatty VS into a 4x4? I understand it’s built for a 5x5 but would that extra light be detrimental? Thanks!

More than 2x the cost for the gavita

No way

I'd personally get a HLG or budgetled 600w light if yer doing a 4x4 space

That's what I run

$1300 is not more than 2x $800. It’s ~38% more cost and produces ~21% more umols for the same amount of power draw. If money isn’t an issue the Gavita is the clear choice. The HLG scorpion is a good contender but it’s only $200 cheaper. The Gavita will have a more uniform spread and comes with a 5 year warranty vs. HLG’s 3 year warranty.

The Gavita sellers want you to buy other shit with the light. Controllers and stuff. Bringing the total cost to over $1600 at my Hydro store. I said fuck that :blsmoke:

I wish I could build but I like the idea of being able to call HLG if anything goes wrong and I need some help. 5 years is way better than 3 but at a much higher up front cost.
