if you can vent outside get the enclosed hood leave the intake side sucking from the grow area and vent the exhaust outside.

wouldnt it not work as well if the fan wasnt sucking straight from the room and pushing the air across the bulb towards outside?
to me it just seems that if the fan is at the end of the ducting , it wouldnt suck as well as it would push.

mine is set up right next to the exhaust pipe. it draws through the charcoal filter and then through the light fixture then exhausts through the roof. it works swell

so ur saying u have the filter in ur grow room , ducting, then the light , then ducting, and at the end of all that the fan thats sucking air through all that? and it works well? how many cfm is the fan , and the size of ur grow space??

yeah... that's it exactly. its a 6" fan around 250 cfm. The room is maybe 10' x 12'.

hmm weird , for some reason , in my mind, i didnt think that the fan would be able to suck well through that long line of stuff. Do you think that squirrel cage one I gave u the link to a couple posts earlier would work well instead of having the vented reflector?

It's an inline vortex fan. cost's over $200. The fan you have is a blower. It would be good to exhaust the whole room. I used a smaller blower as an intake on my 4x4 tent.

Here is a photo before I added the charcoal filter on the other side of the reflector.

aight, i think im gonna go with the blower. it would be cheaper for me to do it that way. That way i can control the heat and not have to spen 200 bux on the reflector, plus another 200-400 on fans. Think id be ok with the intake fan just pulling air in from the room outside the tent? cuz its winter here and pulling cold ass air in prolly would be too good lol

for winter sure... summer not so much. what about odor? the air you are venting is going to smell A LOT. Any plans to deal with odor?

hey , think I can have the blower in flowering room , and the blower in veg room , both eventually tying in to 1 ducting line heading to outside? kinda like a "Y"

yea I havent really thought about odor control lol... I dont even know how I would set that up with a blower like that... think its possible to push the air through a filter instead of pulling it with a 265 cfm blower?

its all about the length of ducting. the longer the length the bigger the fan you will need but you can put a Y adapter on the fan and then run to lines to your rooms.

sure you can. I have seen some people on here that have made their own charcoal boxes that you push the air through.

The only thing im worried about is this...
Im probably gonna be living in an apartment soon. so im just wondering how the hell im gonna vent everything outside... if theres a window in the room , I guess I could possible try and build something out of wood , with 2 holes for the ducting to sit in , and so it blocks off the rest of the open window... or something... hmmmm

if its being vented outside, do I really have to worry about putting a filter for the smell u think?

that looks almost exactly like my setup. you don't need to replace the filter, only the charcoal inside the filter. that cost is pretty cheap. if you're growing in a place with unfriendly laws... then odor control is very important

shit , disregard that last post , i didnt realize the filter alone costs over 200 dollars..fuk that.

ah ok , it prolly doesnt come with the filter in it already tho eh.. prolly gotta buy it.

yes. the filter is 2 cylinders with a layer of charcoal in between. after 6 - 12 months the charcoal looses its effectiveness and needs to be changed. On mine, I drilled out the rivets, dumped out the old charcoal, replaced it and closed the filter with some self tapping screws.

there is only one filter. there is no cartridge inside only loose charcoal.

here are some pics of my exhaust.

thats the filter that goes inside that one, is that like what u have? the charcoal in that is able to be switched out?
Also , how often do u need to change the charcoal in it if its being used 12 to 13 hours a day?
