If I was to hazard a guess, and that's all this is, a guess.

The grower used a liquid salt based fertilizer as a foliar spray or foliar sprayed epsom salts on the plant. That would account for a salty taste, and how there's a salty taste in the buds as well.

I'm still not saying it's salt but now you have some hypotheses to prove or disprove.

Epsom doesn’t taste salty to me, more astringent with a vaguely icky sweetness. I believe someone deliberately added sodium chloride to this weed after trimming.
