We had a wave of what we though was glass laced weed in my town about 15 year ago.
You could take one drag and the whole end of the joint would fuse together then you had to roll the cherry off and relight .
Get a quarter of the way down a joint and just throw it away. Crazy thing is people still bought it even after getting suckered the first time.

I once smoked a joint with my guy back in the day and then drove home. I had my t-shirt off before i was halfway home because the neck was choking me. Got home smoked another jay, hyperventilated and blacked out for a few minutes. My girl slapped me conscious again. I was fucked up. When I confronted him, he laughed and said he mixed kief back in with the weed because he thought it was weak. To this day, I still think he was lying.

Many are stating to wash it and that may be totally viable. I for one would not chance it, if there is a strange substance on it than I say why chance your health? Hopefully you have access to more since you stated you grow your own. I just cannot think of any oz that would be worth damaging yourself over but that's just me.
