Defoliation/training suggestions please

To summarize all of the above: continue to daily low stress bend and ideally use position posts.

I use these Green Wood Plant Stake Floral Plant Support Wooden Bamboo Stake Natural Craft Picks with 100 Pieces 15 cm Long Green Metallic Twist Ties (40 cm, 50 Pi https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07VVGFG93/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_ExAlyHXrKBmwS

I need to stress: at your current photo there is literally ZERO reason to remove your healthy fan leaves. They are your main photosynthetic drivers. You need them to deliver “FOOD” to the branch.

If you go chopping now without backup branch fans you’re setting yourself up for a bad cola

Once you’ve established a trained cola of course there is no issue defoliating the lower leaves that are now taking up more energy to present the same energy. If you have enough upper leaves to transfer photosynthetic Energy you can cut. If not do not, period.

Are you talking bend them all the way around and tie them to the edge of the pot? They're really not that bendy
Place one hand on the base of a branch and lightly press it towards the main stem. Now gently grab that branch close to the top. About three quarters up it and slowly bend until it makes you nervous. Let go and repeat until it is where you want it or as far as you are comfortable with . Repeat every day. You can train a plant to do anything. Just takes a little while and must be held where you want it until the stem becomes woody. Otherwise it just goes right back to the light.

For this plant if maybe you could do a fimming and not a full top. If you fim you keep the top foliage which will still photosynthesize the stem. But allow the new colas to grow. So if you decide to cut do a FIM but LST until you have buds. LST is a nightly thing

Yes they are. If you have a healthy plant you can almost bend in any direction. You may need to do it slowly but you can surely do it. You can literally do a 90° bend
Tomorrow I'll start training it some more again. Would definitely be safe than a supercrop for sure. Ive never done a fim either but that does sound pretty cool. I'll have to read up a bit first. Those ties seem like they would be really handy compared to using string too. Definitely gonna have to grab some

There is no reason to defoliate the photographed plants.

You should only expose the new cola sites to air and light. The fan leaves are still beneficial and not blocking light

Thanks
We all have our opinions on how things can and should be done. Fact of the matter is there is no one correct way to grow. I misread what you meant in the larger context versus how I perceived it let's not get our panties in a bunch.

One thing for sure, before flower, remove all stems and leaves that won’t make it to the top. This will redirect the hormones upwards to the tops!

When you’re talking about a plant like cannabis that’s nickname is weed it’s hard to talk ration to masses.

Cutting off your solar panels does not help the plant.... it may be able to recover and grow more in favor of your shape: but by no means does the removal of a fan leaf help ITS own branch. Now if you’re defoliating to expose node site colas to oxygen and light you have an argument for yield at this point.

Again, to the OP: defoliation will not benefit you.

This is the correct answer. Cause in your case there is one. Removing any fan leaf will be negative for your growth at this time.

Yea... I kind of regret removing those few leaves. I was originally not going to train so in wanted to expose the bud sites to light. Bud after a little bit of easy training the bud sites were exposed anyways. I learned something from it at least. This is how I ended up training her 20200725_175726.jpg

Cutting has its purposes. Your training is nice!

I may have removed a little too much but my colas have leaves to support them. I’m trying really hard to get this plant to grow how I want. But I absolutely just stunted some growth. But for the results I want I should prevail.

Adding thumbnails if it helps you understand when to cut

Just figured I'd post an update. This is what she looks like now. About 2 more weeks and I can throw her in the flower tent. Might wait until I'm back from elk hunting late Sept to flip her to 12 though. Maybe not. My father will be looking after my plants while I'm gone for the week and I wouldn't want anything happening while they were in flower.
