First grow—advice needed!

Hey guys, I’ve always wanted to grow and have finally decided to do so. I’ve done some extensive research and wanted your guy’s advice on if I can improve anything before I get started.
These are my specs, would like to get opinions on a couple options I’m considering as well.

-4x4 or 5x5 tent?
-(2) 600W Viparspectra LED (260 actual draw each)
May add additional Red lighting for flowering since reviews suggest that these lights lack enough red spectrum
-4 plants (Photo) White Widow
-7 or 10 gal grow bag?
-FF Ocean Forest soil mixed with perlite after first transplant from organic soil
-FF nutrients + Cal Mag

Any advice on what size tent/grow bag to maximize yields for this setup would be greatly appreciated. Also, what is a reasonable yield to expect if everything goes as planned? Thanks!

Have you already purchased this stuff or you looking for suggestions on purchases?

Is it warm where your tent will be placed? If it’s cool think about HPS you would only need 1 600w. If it’s already warm in the room or you already purchased those lights disregard.

4 plants a 4x4 is fine.

I haven’t yet purchased the lights but wanted to stick with LED for the reduced electric cost. Also, temperature isn’t a worry since room will stay around 72 degrees.

That’s why I’m asking I don’t run LED but I do know they like the tent around 80-82? If I remember correctly.

I didn’t see anything about a fan on your list. Do you plan on getting fans?

Also grow bags. With photos you need to pot up. So I’m starting in something small and will bump up to 3 gal and then maybe 5 gal depending on the size of the plant. I think 5 gal should be your max. But get others opinions on this as well.

the plant will only get as big as your light will let it. So a big pot means nothing without tons of light. I’ve got a monster auto in 5 gal right now.

Yes, I will have a small van on the bottom vent to bring air in and have a 4 inch inline fan with carbon filter vented out of the top. Will I need another oscillating fan clipped midways to keep on the canopy?

I don’t think you need a fan down low. I’m not sure what LED guys do for theirs. Personally I would point one at the light between fan and canopy. Your 4 inch should pull the heat out fine.

If you want to go with LED then go with higher quality. If you can't afford (or just don't want to spend the money on) HLG, Timber, or something similar then I would suggest building your own lights with Samsung F-Strips or quantum boards. IMHO Viparspectra lights are overpriced for what they are.

Don't bother with a 5x5 unless you want to pay a lot more for lighting. Go with a 6" fan and filter for a 4x4, a couple of small 4-6" fans to blow across the canopy, and either a couple more of those fans to blow under the canopy, or an oscillating fan for that. Also, don't bother asking yield. It's a pointless question for a first time grower.

Completely agree. Im on my first run, and stupidly bought 4x 300w viparspectras and quickly found out the par was next to nothing. Sold them to my buddy and upgraded to 2 SF2000s and a 1000 LOL. Worth investing the money upfront IMO.

What kind of price for a good quality LED not building it for a 4x4?
Id go with the SF2000 depending on your space. I just got 2 of them in yesterday. The new model comes with channeling dimming (controlling them all on one switch) which is something you really aren't gonna find on a lot of the LEDs. Im super impressed. 300$ each. On full blast, they literally blind me.

Sorry i didn’t mean to take over your thread OP. Back to your grow.

So is the consensus to buy the SF led over Viparspectra? Will (2) of the SF 1000 be sufficient in this grow?
Hmm, you'll get different opinions from everyone. A lot of people say the spiderfarmers are a bit overpriced, which I do agree. I just happened to have the money and said F it lol. I think 2 of the 2000s would work in a 4x4 easy, but theres other options. You could get 2x Mars Hydro SP250s as well. Theyre like 4 foot long each lol. I think theyre 259 each? Bit more budget friendly.

if you're doing a 4x4 you would need an SF4000 or (2) SF2000, i would not go cheaper than spider farmer. if they are out of budget go with CMH or HPS

you can find cheaper things that look like the spider farmer on alibaba but what you're really getting there is different diodes and youre being lied to.
