Fabric pots and root stability

On the question of watering etc, is it okay to water your plants before lights go off?(12/12) I noticed a few plants needed watered tonight but lights were going off in a hour so I just left it, didn’t want the water sitting getting cold in the medium with night time temps? Would that be a issue? Or I’m I missing out on important feeds? Cheers, sorry for jumping in on thread, just had a thought reading about your watering techniques.

On watering plants in fabric pots. I've stuck my plant into a container that catches all the runoff when water and then the plant soaks up the excess to the point it will not anymore. Then I pull out the plant and set it on a chunk of hog wire for 5 or 10 minutes over the same container and let all the excess drain off. I've never had a issue using them other wise. Nice after harvest when inspecting the rootball not finding roots that have circled over and over on themselves.

I have a grandkid in the basement so i cant water every morning before work. Never had a problem with watering a few hours before lights off.

BTW, I should also say that I recently put in a blumat system and it’s been amazing. I haven’t had to manually water since I put it in and it’s interesting to see how much they actually go through each day.

What is this Blumat system? How does it monitor the soil dampness for accuracy?

It has a “carrot” that opens a valve to drip water when the soil dries out due to the drop in pressure in the carrot.

@ Nefrella I was having the same issues. Here's what i've came up with. I bought a few plastic pots and drilled out holes all around it. Then I lined the inside with the thinest landscape fabric. Similar to the Alaskan grow bucket. I use CoCo and I water every 2 days drain to waste. Its been working so well I even made them for my veg tent as well! Very Explosive growth.

I dwindled down to a boatload of small plants in my spaces to just a few large plants per tent. One of the reasons is that I like to have the space to spin and move my plants around the floor space.

Yeah, it's an old thread but seeing as it was already bumped I might as well reveal that I smiled when I read the quoted post because that is absolutely exactly my position and where I wanted to get to for the same reasons. I went from growing two monsters, to a tabletop of one litre plugs. The transition is almost complete, when that final hydro on the right is replaced by the big pyramid on the left. Then all the rest one litre plugs, sitting in saucers, you can slide them around and continuously rearrange them with the greatest ease. You can turn them upside down and nothing falls out, oh and speaking of the thread topic, the roots are held firmly in place no matter how roughly you move or water them.

What's your per day per plant consumption like?

I'm at about .75g per plant per day in 5g bags.

I've noticed that the plastic pots I'm using aren't drying out as well as I'd like, working on transitioning to fabric pots.

My concern is moving the plants when they're young, as the fabric pots don't provide much in the way of keeping the dirt stationary.

The plant shown here is a Do-si-do (00 seeds). Planted 4/6. There was some overwatering going on (still learning) but it seems that this plant is horribly stunted.

FFOF/ Big Rootz blend (both 6.5 ph) trying to use up some soil. 84 deg amvient, 60 rh, 24 hr lights.

Anyway, transplanted to a fabric pot, hopefully will help kick start this girl.

I agree with you that the fabric pot to help with your water circulation and transportation. I used to use them all the time. That is before I went to raise beds (which are still fabric. Just remember to clean and sanitize them becaus)e fabric has the potential to hold spores. The pots one can wash though. Oxyclean.
P.s I am pretty sure that 82ﾟF is cannabis's optimum temp for growth. It falls off significantly after that. So you may not have much growth at 84. Especially if your humidity is to low.
