6 Hours light and 2 dark

Hello.
im thinking on setting my led light 6 hours on and 2 off for all the growing stage of my autos. This is because the driver and the leds get very hot together, and the seller told me that’s better if the light is turned off after 8 hours working for cooling.
What do you think about?

I've done it before. It's an old technique that was used to give plats stronger than normal light but let them recover a bit before going again. Personally I never saw the promised results and it became a pain in the ass for me to try to schedule work around it, always seemed to have free time just when the lights were off so I stopped doing it.

What is the driver and leds you are using?

Is a 120w quantum board with 288 Samsung lm561c and a Meanwell ELG-150-48A. It gets pretty hot

So why dont you try separating driver from heatsink? Its the way i would run it.

This plus pointing a small fan directly at the heatsink will reduce heat significantly

I'm pretty sure you should give it 24hr light. Or 20/4 at the least. You want as much growth as possible in it's short life cycle, this is the way to do it.

Read the link above, I can tell you first hand that going 6/2 was no slower than 24.

The plant is 4-5 weeks left. I’ll go with 6/2 until the end and see what happens, then I’ll make a decision for the next one (2 weeks old)

Yes it’s a good idea, but I think is not only a driver problem. The board itself get hot. I think it’s about leds lifespan

Lol there is no point what so ever doing 6 hours regs needs 12/12 flower autos need 20-24

And btw I'm running 3 boards 2 at 150 and a ssk all with drivers on top no heat issue

Have U got a inline brining air in also U got fans blowing at the lights

You said in your post above that you never saw the promised results and that it was a pain in the ass. Why mess with what works? If Mephisto recommends 24 hrs light, I believe I would go with them. Autos can take their break in the jar.

The driver should be mounted away from the board, preferably outside the immediate grow area. Then a small fan can be used to cool the board. Then there are no more worries.

6-2 growth cycle, worked surprisingly well

Keep it 6-2 for autos , this technique is especially good for autos. Any stress on auto’s can slow growth and effect yield. 6-2 is all about stress free growing for better growth .

There something wrong with the board or driver to get that hot or U got it wired wrong or plugged wrong even with fans or even with out the board + driver I have never seen get any hotter then hand hot
