Autos really faster??

I grew autos last time and harvested at 12 weeks. They were great and I didnt have to worry about the dark cycle. I now have a photo at 8 weeks. Flipped the lights at 5 weeks. Its supposed to be a 45 day flower strain. Anyway doing simple math tells me that the photo will finish at least as soon as the auto. ???? Still like autos. Getting ready to put both autos and photos outside this summer. It will be interesting to harvest this photo and see if I get more weight and quality off it than the auto. The auto is better than I find in the dispensary. First pic is the super skunk auto near harvest. The second is Afghan kush photo at 8 weeks.View attachment 4525356View attachment 4525357

Nice looking plant! So ar 3gal hard pots of coco overkill? Should I go with 2 gal instead? I’m working with white widow auto flowers from ILGM their seed to harvest in 70-80 days
I'd never go higher than 2 and MAYBE 3 gal of coco. It's best use is in 1/2 to 1 gal and watered and fed 2-3 times a day. The roots may be in a smaller area, but since it gets fresh oxygen, water and food so often it explodes in healthy growth. IMO watering in 5 gal of coco evey 2-3 days is a waste of how coco works.

By putting plants into 12/12 every 2 weeks :).
Haha, that was funny. But in all seriousness, flower times are how I base my perpetual harvesting. If I know I have a strain that flowers for example in 60 days, then I make sure my veg time is in accordance to that time. I mainly deal with clones, because their veg time is short. So I’ll pull clones from my mom plants about 3-4 weeks before my harvest is ready. I typically get roots in about 7-14 days give or take, add 2-3 weeks on top of that for veg time, equals about 3-4 weeks. By the time I chop, I’m bringing the clones in to flower, and the cycle repeats itself. It’s only when I have autos that the timing can get tricky. At least that’s how I do it. I’m sure others have their way of doing it but this way works for me.

That's not perpetual that's growing in cycles unless you're taking cuttings every 4 weeks or less at least half your flower time

Not sure what you are laughing at. What I stated was how you grow perpetually to harvest every 2 weeks. Every 2 weeks is a tough cycle to get down though and shortchanging flower time to fit the cycle is a terrible idea. I spent the last 10 years doing a 2-3 week perpetual sog garden. Every 2-3 weeks taking clones and flowering the currently vegging clones. Constant cycle with usually 4 different cycles flowering at once. 40-48 flowering 10-25 vegging,15-20 clonesrooting, and 2-5 mother plants, pretty much at all times for the last 10 years, 5-6 cycles per year.

That’s crazy Dude now did u keep up with that for 10 years? Soil dirt or hydro? Also I assume you started off hand watering when did u make the switch to automated?

It was always flood and drain in 6 inch pots filled with grow rocks. It’s an awesome hydro method to use for SOG gardens.

It was definitely tough to keep up with especially while working full time and being a dad. There were a couple points my schedule slacked and my yields and cycle were effected. I had to stay on things to make it all work. It definitely was wearing me out near the end. I recently moved and havnt totally decided what my next grow build will be.

Back to the discussion about autos, I recently saw a great perpetual auto grow. The guy had 4 tiers of plants on a stair step set up with a single 600w I think over it all. The seedlings went on the top shelf then every 2-3 weeks he started new seeds and moved the batch of plants down to the next stair. His most mature being on the bottom shelf or floor. Bam perpetual auto harvest.
