Autos really faster??

I grew autos last time and harvested at 12 weeks. They were great and I didnt have to worry about the dark cycle. I now have a photo at 8 weeks. Flipped the lights at 5 weeks. Its supposed to be a 45 day flower strain. Anyway doing simple math tells me that the photo will finish at least as soon as the auto. ???? Still like autos. Getting ready to put both autos and photos outside this summer. It will be interesting to harvest this photo and see if I get more weight and quality off it than the auto. The auto is better than I find in the dispensary. First pic is the super skunk auto near harvest. The second is Afghan kush photo at 8 weeks.

9 weeks is bad ass. How much was the yeild per plant.

you can grow photos from seed at 12/12 and get fast harvests... The big difference between a photo and an auto in this situation is that the auto will flower under 18-20- even under 24 hours of light, and the photo is only going to be getting 12ish hours of light to flower. Because of this, the auto is getting 50%-100% more light than the photo and as a result is going to yield higher in theory. The advantage of the photos is going to be the ability to veg as long as you want to control the size of the plant and thus in a way the size of the harvest. the auto is just going to do it's thing... and you get the best results when you are able to grow it without hindering it along the way.

9 weeks is bad ass. How much was the yeild per plant.

The first time I grew it I got 11 grams lol, I left her in a 2 gallon pot, the second time I believe I got somewhere around 2-2 1/2 oz in a 7 gallon pot but both plants took 9 weeks from seed and very good smoke the best sativa I ever had.

I bought 7 gal and 5 gal containers for the autos I am going to start soon. Cant decide on which to use. Any advice? Also thinking about starting them inside under a pretty good led light for a couple of weeks then moving outside???? They should be decent size. They are Dutch Passions Auto Mazar and Think Different.

Go with 7 gallon it will make a difference in yield

Some people will tell you that pot size is not important with autos but I've always found bigger is better to an extent

I don't find anything bigger than 3 gal necessary for auto's. Everyone's grow is a little different mind you, and I have no outdoor experience. But I don't find I get any difference in harvest between 3 and 5 gal pots. I just harvested these two auto's this week for plant size reference in 3 gal. One was 6zips and the other 4.5. Each under a 56wat cob, 84 days and 73 days from seeds.

I really struggled in week's 4-6 with nasty calcium issues, but I think for the most part coco is a pretty good medium to work with. Did you rinse and buffer your coco to start ?

GH coco.....I ran light nutes through heavy. Like 3 times normal wattering(30% run off). 1 tsp calmag per gal and very light GH trio.

I actually didn't really figure it out this round. I suspected it was being slack with my ph around 6.0-62. I had been feeding with Mega crop 2.0 and cal/mag around 1/2tsp/ gal when it started. It seemed like no matter what adjustments I tried from the onset it progressed worse after every watering. The steps I took was Correcting ph to 5.7-5.8, followed by increasing the dose of calmag to 1 tsp/gal, followed by no extra cal/mag. Every move I made seemed to just ravage my plants even harder. I'm pretty new to working with megacrop as well so that didn't help. They claim "no extra calmag needed". And I guess that coulda been the issue is me feeding calmag when I didn't need too.

This progressed from top down.

Not sure if it helps or not, but I switched to Megacrop a few months back. In hempy buckets so just perlite/vermiculite.
After seedling stage, for all veg I run 350ish ppm tap water @ 5.8ph - 4 grams per gal megacrop - 4ml/gal CalMagic.
In flower I up the megacrop to 5.5 g/gal. No other changes.
It seems to be working well so far.

That's with photos. My first grow was 8 autos, so I know they need a bit lighter feed so some tweaks would be needed, but figured I'd share a baseline that seems to be working.

This last round of auto's I was feeding 3.5g/gal mc with 280 ppm tap water though out most of flowering. Was getting burnt tips if I tried pushing past 4g/gal MC. Maybe I just needed to keep a consistent 4/mil feed of Calmag.

In soil at least I'm finding that to be true. I planted 2 Auto AKs, one in a 3 gal and one in a 5 gal, and the one in the 5 is significantly larger.

As for finishing time, like the others said, I think it's definitely strain dependent. My NL Auto from Seedsman claimed 65 days, but I'm on 75ish already. I'm new to autos so I'm not sure how much longer it will go. If it was a photo I'd say it had 2 months left!
