Correct so boosting calcium with say calcium nitrate to start is a good idea. If I went back to soil I think I’d recycle the soil after each grow (run it through garden mulcher or something) which would give the gypsum time to break down completely.

I recycle mine pulling roots out is a pain but fairly easy. I turn mine over in a cement mixer
