There are 48,206 confirmed closed cases of 2019nCoV. The actual number of total cases is certainly higher than this, maybe 3 times higher.
3,057 of those outcomes were death, that is 6%. It would be very hard to miscalculate this. Deaths are always reported -- ok well we could argue this point since we're talking about the CCP -- but I think the margin here is probably pretty small.
Fact is, you could rule out any fatality rate above 6% categorically. It's likely very close to 2% based on scientific models and two peer reviewed epidemiological studies, one in the Lancet and one in Los Alamos. Models which place the CFR blow this are based on the notion that many more people have been infected than have been reported. A 1% would mean more than 300k people have been infected and not the 90k reported by the WHO.

I guarantee you that every pneumonia death in California is being tested. At least for the last 3 weeks, not a single corpse that has died of pneumonia has been handed over without a full round of tests. Trump's response team may be untrained but no fucking hospital in California would EVER risk a malpractice by handing over a virulent corpse so it could cause an outbreak.

I can see you don't have a very strong understanding of virology or medicine. The pt did not have pneumonia or a travel history that included China. I agree they should have tested anyway and in fact they did so, despite the lack of met criteria because doctors suspected there was more to her (mild) illness than could be explained otherwise. It shows a procedural weakness but it absolutely does not indicate that any people have died of the novel coronavirus and subsequently had their death attributed incorrectly as you suggested before you tried to move the goalposts.Bro it took them 3 days to test a live patent.....lol

If someone died of 2019nCoV, it is due to a type of extreme pneumonia called Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. A simple chest x-ray would reveal if someone has ARDS. Even if someone dies of a less extreme form of pneumonia, the death calls for a full round of testing. They are definitely going to know if someone dies of 2019nCoV. I agree though that they're going to miserably fail in containing the virus, but they are not going to be off regarding the number of people who die. Unless they are lying throught their teeth, which could be the case in China, but absolutely not in California.
This is exaclty the point I made before that you have been abusing. They can get a lock on the maximum possible Case Fatality Rate because they know for sure how many people die from it. It will certainly be a lower CFR than what you get by running it against confirmed cases with an outcome because most cases are unconfirmed.

LOL, I'm not loosing sleep at this point. I'm old enough to know that most people come to a slow painful end, very few get to live a long completely healthy life and pass peacefully in their sleep at 90. When it shows up here I'll try to be careful, I bought a box of masks and gloves along with some disinfectant wipes.. I think I'm more at risk because of my health and it doesn't sound like a pleasant way to go but we usually don't get to choose that.

The main concern right now is to test and contain as much as possible to slow down the rate of infection and spread out the load on the health care system over time. Lots of people getting very sick at once is what needs to be avoided and this is where Trump fucked up and is continuing to do so. There are only so many hospital beds and ventilators and they might have to disconnect dying Rush Limbaugh's this summer if a sick kid needs one.

When I feel an illness beginning, I take some Anti-V every few hours. It's an ECHINAMIDE, and my nutritionist friend recommends it. She tells me that it prevents the virus from mutating so that your immune system can defeat it much faster. I've used it for 15 years and it seems to work well.
Here's the Anti-V
I also eat 4 tablespoons of hemp nuts every morning, and take 2000 mg of fish oil every evening, for an excellent dose of Omega fatty acids.

When the state and local HEALTH authorities decide who lives and dies and is incharge of resource triage, rush might be out of luck, they will requisition all medical resources in the region or community. Thousands of severely ill would overwhelm a city or state medical system and must be avoided by controlling the spread. People will need to think of others and their communities as well as themselves.
