Importance of "PH"

You are not lucky. The soil itself is ph balanced. If you use very heavy nutrients it can throw off the ph for a time but if you dilute them properly it shouldn't be an issue. People get hung up on ph because they don't actually understand it. They think they need to adjust the water as in a soiless grow which does basically nothing helpful. If you just keep add back active organic materials like worm castings every so often and maybe add some D-lime once or twice a year you should never need to worry about ph falling too far out of range in a soil grow.
Would this be applicable to my situation as well? I’m about to pop a few autos on my first
grow with bio bizz light mix and their nutes.

my tap water is 8.2, and I was unsure if I should adjust my pH down some?

I don't know what's in bio bizz mix; ingredients not listed nor does it give npk value but says it is ph balanced. Looks to be coco based but I'm just guessing.
This is applicable to growing any green flowering plant in soil: if you keep the soil active by adding a form of compost like worm castings and mycorrhizae fungi you should never have to worry about absorption issues. Not everyone can easily sustain an organic mix over the long term due to water quality or other factors; so that being said water quality could be a determining factor in your decision.
If you use the soil as a sterile hydroponic medium and plan to give your plants a lot of nutrients then in that case it may be a good idea to adjust ph. A ph of 8+ out of the tap seems high; be sure your meter is calibrated before adjusting anything but if that's a correct reading then yes I would adjust ph to 6.5-7.0 at each feeding.

If you are mixing up gh (or any brand of 2-part nutrients) at the correct ratio the ph should fall around 6.8. Should contain ph buffers; in coco you should even adjust the water you give them but you can get away without doing it if your tap water is around 7.
I have the 3 part gh trio in ph'd coco . well says neutral ph so idk . and I use town water no chloride or water additives not sure the ph of that either. So I may have been lucky. No issues that I havent been able to fix by adjusting nutes.
