Back to the lighting plan, I’m planning to run 3 of the 3VLs and 2 of the California Lightworks UVB Lights. This could look like a cluster of hooks and wires holding all of that together. I
need to clean up all of the air ducting from the air cooled hood.



I’ve been doing a lot of research on lighting. I’ve discovered that UVB is reportedly giving significant increases to potency. This is rather deep, but their main point is that UVB lighting can increase potency by up to 33 percent. UVB is dangerous to our eyes and skin, so use caution.

I was running with a 20 degree differential between night and day and exceeding my goal of 80 degrees during flowering. (High of 86) I know that’s not ideal. The LED should get rid of the high temps. A time series of temps is below. What it doesn’t show is my efforts to open windows in winter and opening up the tent to drop the temp.


Finally, I stole this picture from @Flatrate. How did you attach your charcoal filter to your exhaust fan directly? Is there a special 6 inch bracket? Anyone have any good recommendations for attaching the two together?

Yes, that is my tent. Plenty of room with only four plants. As far as the UVB, I’ve been running 45 minutes per day at a distance of about 18 inches. I’ll start increasing soon as I get closer to harvest.

So since I’m replacing the lights and the carbon filter, I might as well look at the exhaust fan too. There’s an AC Infinity fan that automatically adjusts speed based on tent temperature and humidity. Anyone familiar with this unit?

Twist my arm, that was enough to convince me! I might as well do it now since I’ll be tearing the tent apart to install the new lights and carbon filter. One more Amazon purchase.

What settings would you want to change for day/night? I think the fan will slow down at night when the lights are off based on temp and humidity.

Ya it might be able to do what I want based on humidity. I drop my temps about 8 degrees from lights on to off.

You’re doing great with 8 degrees. im thinking of adding a heater to the tent and running it with my inkbird temperature controller. It should only kick on at night if the humidity gets too high.

Unfortunately it will not change speeds to automatically regulate temp and humidity. They don’t explain it well enough in my opinion on Amazon.
You set it on a speed of your choice say speed 7, and it comes on and off based on your desired temp or humidity. (Not both at same time)
The ramping up stuff they talk about is just the fan slowly working up through the speeds to reach your desired speed. I have mine just set to stay on all the time at a certain speed.

All I did to marry the filter and fan together was a short piece of flex vent tubing and some Gorilla tape.

Quietest fans I’ve ever bought on even the low speeds. I’d highly recommend trying one out. Gorilla tape is what I use as well.

A few shots from the tent today. Today is the start of Week 5 flowering. I’m very pleased with the early size of these colas.


Looking at timers for the LEDs and I’m inclined to try these smart Wifi plugs. It will give me the ability to control everything from my iPad or iPhone. I’ve been using them with the UVB lights and it’s nice to be able to program remotely.

my biggest concern on the next grow is moving to coco. It requires daily feeding, so I might have to rig up a watering system in the tent. A little extra space could come in handy too.

It may be a good idea to do only half of the plants in coco if you've never done it before. This way, if you have a catastrophe or simply decide you don't like it anymore, the whole grow isn't a wash.

Two of my rules:

- Never change everything at once
- Only change one thing at a time

An example on point one... I'm building myself a 12-site RDWC system for my next run, but there's no chance I'm giving up my dirt grows yet. Point two... if you've got a problem with the plants, if you change more than one thing at a time without waiting to see if a change for the better occurred, you'll never know what caused the problem, what made it better, or what made it worse

Many times I see people that have a minor problem, but then proceed to change pH, modify nutrients, change lighting etc all at the same time. Mostly it goes further downhill, but even if there is success, you'll never know exactly how to fix it next time if the same problem arises.
