I’d love to try RDWC....maybe someday I’ll have the chance. A 12 site sounds nice!

Very good advice. And with that, I’ve decided to grow 4 plants in soil (with nutrients that I know) and 2 in coco as my experiment. That will also let me see a side-by-side comparison of hydro vs soil on the same strain. That sounds like more fun and less stress too.

Good luck on your new system!

Ok, I’ve looked at the calendar and I’m estimating to harvest my current grow by February 22nd. That assumes I take these girls thru 10 weeks since I flipped to 12/12 lighting.

I’m going to play it safe and start the propagation station on February 8th. That allows me to run longer if necessary. I also need time to tear down and rebuild the tent with new lighting, carbon filter and fan.

FEBRUARY GROW PLAN. (Starts Feb 8th)

Two grows at once.....a soil grow and a coco grow. Coco is brand new to me, so I may screw this up big time.

All seeds are starting in jiffy pellets and then being split up between the different medias. I plan to soak seeds in RO water for 15 hours before placing them in the jiffy pellets.

I am inclined to run a separate nutrient line for the soil that I’ve used before, but managing two sets of nutrients sounds difficult. So I will use General Hydroponics Flora Series for both grows.

Soil Grow:
Strains: Jock Horror, Raspberry Cough, Black Jack and Sour Diesel (Nirvana seeds)

Soil: Happy Frog for seedlings, then 2/3 Fox Farms Ocean Forest. 1/3 Perlite
Nutes: GH Flora line, Maxicrop Seaweed, Recharge, Purpinator
Container: solo cup, then 1 gallon, then 5 gallon Warrior pots

Coco Grow:
Strains: Jock Horror, Black Jack
Coco: Brick coco that needs to be hydrated, cleaned and buffered (70% coco, 30% perlite)
Nutes: GH Flora line, maxicrop seaweed, recharge, Purpinator
Container: solo cup then 1 gallon then 7 gallon fiber pot
Fertigation frequency: daily

Seeds are photoperiod, feminized and sativa-dominant.

I’ll put a few updates of my current grow until that date, but the coco grow is the one where the journal will really come in handy.

This was a really educational video for me. I’m new to the idea of defoliating plants, but I see the benefits within reason and at the right times. It’s like having the old painter Bob Ross walk you through how to trim up a cannabis plant. Enjoy!

@Raindanlets get the man set up with a discount on those 3vls! (Not sure if you are doing a $50 off each fixture, or a Riu coupon anymore)

Looking forward to seeing everything set up, wish you the best in 2020. Let's kill it!
Thanks Prometheus! Sorry I missed your post earlier. Wishing you a great 2020 too!!

Here is an update on the Nirvana Original Glue (Gorilla Glue 4). This is week 5 since I flipped to 12/12 lighting. Two more weeks for the buds to grow, then I’m assuming that I will be harvesting by Feb 22nd.

I was experiencing too much heat (up to 86 degrees), so I backed the lamp down to 750 watts and set it to a Lux setting of no higher than 85,000. I was concerned about burning off terpenes. Given the small footprint being used, I’m getting good coverage even with 750 watts.

Fed them with RO Water, NFTG, CalMag, Purpinator, and silica. Added some Recharge too. I’m getting a little yellowing in the lower canopy following the stretch. Not significant and I don’t want to add any more nitrogen while the buds are developing these next two weeks.

Here is an update on the OG Kush. I’ve been feeding her the same as the Gorilla Glue, but she’s looking a little hungry. She’s waterlogged now, but she will get a small dose of nitrogen on the next feeding. She’s starting to show red stems that weren’t red before. Watching for any other symptoms. I’m running two of them this time. It’s hard to do a side by side comparison, but I’m very pleased with trichomes at week 5 with minimal UVB. Interestingly, the uvb is degrading some of the duct tape on the tent floor. Strong stuff.

Wow. Interesting.
I'm still trying to figure out how to hang mine. My hoods are 24"x21" so still trying to figure out the best placement.
Figure I'll try this out and if it works order another for the other end of the tent.

You have a killer setup Smoke!
I had to buy two (24 watt each) and run one on each side of my 26 inch hood. Due to the exhaust from the air cooled hood, I had to do front and back. They say you only need 1-2 watts per square foot for UVB to be effective. I’m running 2 square watt per foot. I hope it doesn’t deteriorate my tent.

Thank you. It took a lot of mistakes and cussing over the last 6 months to get to this point.

Think I'll probably have to end up running the 2 like you are also.

Things not being "balanced" makes me cringe

Yes....26x26 square if I remember correctly.
Nice. I looked for them but they're almost all sold out everywhere I checked.

One more thing, on the uvb do you stick to the suggested 24" height?
Because I run my hoods a lot closer than that and am worried about shadows if it needs to stay that high.

I’ve kept them at the same height as the hood. I lowered the one in the rear so you could see it in the photo. I’ve had them as close as 16 and now I’m closer to 22-24 inches. At 45 minutes, I’m seeing no leaf stress. I’ll work my way up to 3-4 hours per day depending on how the leaves react. But their instructions were for three feet if I remember correctly.
