The Proper Way to Water A Potted Plant

Way to over complicate a simple thing.
There is nothing special about the way cannabis grows as a cultivar..........nada.
Maybe cut out all the feel good flail around so I feel special extras next time........they slow down plant growth.
It's not overcomplicated though....Just broken down. Nothing more or less. Just a write up people. jeeshhh

I have read practically the same exact article elsewhere about a year or two ago. I tried this method for sometime but just lost patience and went back to just "scratching" the to surface of soil without disturbing surface roots too much, or while in veg, before surface roots scratch a little deeper to prevent water channels and just pour it in. I do 1/2 gal. at a time and wait about 20 min. in between. Has worked like a champ. K.i.s.s. it is just watering.

This is the very reason I haven't tried fabric/ smart pots. I have this paranoia that they would be dry all the time.
They dry out quicker for sure but that's a good thing in my opinion. makes for healthy and growing roots. Typically with seedlings to young veg, I water every 2-3 days with my air pots. I use 5Gallon and 500ML of water per plant per watering than its ramped up to 750ML -1L per plant in later stages every 2-3. I use dry amendments in my soil and then dress when needed. so its very rinse and repeat.

I and others appreciate the effort bro, but thats an awful lot of text to just say don't flood the root system.

Back when I was hand-watering with a garden wand I would utilize a method called pulse watering, making a few rounds with the wand and moving onto the next plant to give the soil time to soak up the water.

Ever since I started using Blumats its as easy as just filling up a bucket. I'd say save yourself the effort and upgrade to Blumats. Your back and your plants will thank you.

I am not saying if you don't use this method your plants will die. Just an explanation and broken down a little. This is more for newer growers to use to learn about it.

If you're going to cut and paste you should cite the original author. The entirety of the text you posted was originally posted on January 7th 2016 on another site. Were you that author? If not then you should credit that author instead of leading people to believe you wrote it. If you are the author you should say you've posted this in the past. That avoids any confusion.

I never said anywhere I wrote it. Not once. I also wasn't linking a competitors thread on this forum. I literally said in this post it's a write-up to help newer growers.

No need to get defensive, he just stated that this was a copy and paste and that people may think it was your words. either way, not a big deal just a polite thing to do. We all had to put citations/credits for works in school... But in all fairness great read no harm no foul.

I'm not trashing your methods, but when I started growing weed I thought it needed to be treated differently to all the other plants in the garden. I fell into the same trap as when I started growing hot peppers. Cannabis specific soils, cannabis specific nutrients, special blends, etc.
I learned differently. I think the best advice for new growers is to keep it simple until you have some experience, then start experimenting a little until you find what works best for you.
Thanks for the post, it fuels discussion if nothing else, and makes us all think about our own methods. Questioning our own assumptions doesn't happen nearly enough.

I've always said if it works......I see an everclashing group that think if its not their way it's not the right way. Forgetting there's a million variables in a grow. One of the biggest problems I see though for new soil growers is watering habits.

Well you never said you didn't. I wouldn't have even said anything until I saw people giving you credit for writing it and you never said you didn't. There was nothing in your original post that would lead anyone to believe that you were not the author. All you had to do was respond with "I didn't write it. I got it from another site but the information is good and I want to share it with others". Anyway, enough about that. Time to move on and smoke a bowl. The only question is of what. Decisions decisions... bongsmilie

I hear you. I'm rather new and I wasn't trying to get banned for linking a competitors site. Just trying to be helpful to the people who need it. It's day time so a nice sativa should do lol.

8:00 am where I'm at. And a sativa did sound good which is why I loaded a bowl of some Oldtimers Haze that took 20 months to flower. It's also 5:00 pm somewhere which is why I'm also drinking an IPA. It's Friday and I work for myself from home. I can do whatever I want while on the job. :bigjoint:
