Need to buy a new car for my wife...

She currently has a 2011 Subaru Impreza Outback Sport wagon. We bought it new a little over 9 years ago. It's been a pretty ok car. Hasn't needed anything major yet. Little shittin $150 links and shit here and there. But like most cars in the NE here everything underneath is rusty. I've been looking at AWD Hyundai Kona and AWD Kia Sportage because the warranties are so good. Bumper to bumper 5 years/60kmiles on both. 10 years/100k powertrain on both. But think the best value might be in trading it back in to the Subaru dealer and getting another Impreza. Only a 3year/36k mile bumper to bumper and 5year/60k powertrain. The Hyundai and the Kia are both alittle more loaded than the impreza too. You guys have any opinions?

It's a couple or 3 hours off the beaten path, but I've been seeing a lot of cars with Blue Knob license plate holders lately.

An unusual place, mostly 2-3 yr. old cars that came off leases. Row after row of them, like a 1000 cars. Prices marked a couple grand below retail, no haggling except for trade in value.

My buddy bought one. Half price of new. Something to consider. They're all used as soon as you drive them off the lot .

I think you can't go wrong with a Subaru and the Imprezas are nice cars. If you were looking for something other than a station wagon I would say get a Toyota, they are the best cars on Earth.

Buy a 1 year used with 10 or 12k miles from the dealership. I'd go with a Subaru. (Unless you've got plenty of bucks to get brand new. I hate taking the depreciation hit with brand new)

Hyundai and kia are the same company and complete garbage not to offend you're better off in a Toyota or Honda by far. Worked at hyundai for 3.5 years. But out of those id go Subaru even though they have their issues.

I guess it depends on budget...and whether you dont mind a new or used...
If you're in the NE..with lots of salt in the road..you've gotta be concerned about rust...
As such, my two favorite brands are Toyota and Honda...both of which have had super rust resistance...
My wife drives a 2012 Outback 3.6, which we bought new..However, 3 recalls later, I cant say I'd recommend it..Physically, a nice vehicle, but lots of little problems..hence, I'm a little tainted on Subaru

My reflex response was "El Camino", but a bit of digging revealed this to be its Australian cousin, Holden HQ Ute GTS unless I'm mistaken.

El Caminos are far and away the commonest still-running '70s muscle platforms on the road here in 'Fornia.

I'm a little tainted on both Toyota and Subaru. Had a Tundra before my F150 and other than the motor having 208k miles everything else on that truck was junk and had to be replaced multiple times. I've always had Subarus growing up but they do have a lot of recalls, rust away to shit and do nickel and dime you on little sway links and shit to death.

Sorta in a way. Theres still huge quality differences. For instance. I own a 2015 civic si with 215000 km on it bought brand new and a 2015 elantra gt with 198 000 on it bought brand new. That piece of crap hyundai has gone through 3 engines countless problems and a million headaches later. Yet the honda hasnt even needed a single light bulb. U get what u pay for m8

My ex has 2017 crosstrek. Temperamental bastard, when things are fine it's a great nice riding car, but she always has some problem with it that have to be dealt with by the dealer.

The Kia is built about 15 miles from my house and the Hyundai about 80 . With that said, I know a lot of people working for these asshats and I would never buy one..... never.

I know a lot of people driving them and they like them just fine but....did I mention I would never buy one.
