Any ideas what I'm seeing here? The very top of the buds are growing a little stem with a group of 3-5 calyx on top... Are they just foxtailing? seeded? herm? .....I've never seen this before... still only a little amber, but probably just time to pull it

My guess is foxtail! This was my first year growing a strain that foxtailed (sour d) so i had to research it. Mine are getting pulled tonight. Want them out before halloween and next week temps are low, tarp got taken out so its time.. Cant believe i made it to end of oct! Had very little catepiller rot but that was it for mold! And im up here in vt. Sampled the sour d.. its awesome. Love the high. Cant wait to try the thai next. Congrats on making it so long! Plants look amazing.

Thx Dirty... I also posted it in the general forum and foxtailing was the consensus there as well ... i've never seen it before but I don't want to let it get out of hand so I'm going to start preparing it for the chop later today or tomorrow .. it's crazy to still have 7 plants going on Halloween with no hard freeze temps in the 10 day forecast

That's a wrap on my 2019 outdoor season... I've taken one plant down each day for the last 7 days... the last one (and couple bottoms) came down yesterday before the freezing temps set in ... I probably could have set up a small propane heater and got through the night, but they all stopped growing about a week ago, so whats the point?... in the end I'm not complaining, Nov 8 is the longest I've ever gone in Massachusetts...

IMG_3070.jpg

... but the end of outdoor 2019, also means the beginning of outdoor 2020 ... my best buds this year came off the Blue Funk ... luckily back in late July I pulled a clone and it's still standing... I've never tried to reveg something this late into flower, but figured I'd try... I stuck it in my seedling closet on 24/0.. I'm hoping it reveg's and I can pull clones through the winter... I chopped it right about here...

IMG_3067b.jpg

... now that my plant count is back down to just one, I figured I'd get started on a breeding project I've been wanting to for a while .... this morning I popped (2) blue funk (fem) seeds, and (4) M.O.B (reg) seeds ... I'm hoping to get a good male from the M.O.B that I can cross with the Blue Funk clone and any other good females that come in over the winter ... I honestly don't know dick about breeding, but have been reading a lot on those threads lately, and would love to see what I can create... I believe M.O.B and Blue Funk both have blueberry in their background so it could be interesting...

... I haven't flowered indoors in probably 20 years.. I have a veg closet that has been solely used to get my outdoors going every year... so I had to put something together ... 20 years ago the only options were MH for veg, and HPS for flower... but nowadays there's so many more options (and opinions), that researching it just ended up giving me a headache after an hour ... I ended up bringing in an 8'x4' gorilla grow tent... and intrigued by LED lighting, I ordered (2) Timber Redwood VS lights... based on what I want to do, it seams that this was the best way to go, I can veg/flower , they're more efficient, allow higher canopy, and produce less heat... I'm hoping to get a perpetual seed run going through the winter, and by March 1st have my (8) outdoor plants selected and running in the tent until it's warm enough to get them in the greenhouse.. hopefully by early April...

Thanks for following along all season, I'd have to call it a success, but it was actually more fun watching everyone else's grows ... great job everyone and thanks for all the help!

Almost done trimming. Most ended up over dried. After my shed was broken into dureing the first harvest the next 2 cuts went to my buddys new mechanic shop to dry. And ended up over dry. Once I realized everything immediately went into jars to start a half assed cure fan leaves and all. Still going threw everything but my 3 biggest plants went 2 lbs each and could estimate maybe 2.2 lbs if it didnt get over dried. Once everything gets its final trim humidity packs have been added to jars to try to get some weight back.

Aslo had more seeds during trim than I have ever seen before. Maybe picked out a couple dozen so can only imagion what is still in there.

After a few weeks in the locker this years buds are looking great... I grew out five strains all from fem seeds this year.. I enjoy the variety much more than quantity... so next year I'll be doing one outdoor plant each of 8 different strains ... I just went black friday bananas on the seed banks and have about 20 brand new strains on the way ... if there's one thing I learned this year, it's that once the conditions are all dialed in, it's all about genetics from there. Last year I placed one order through seedsman and just went with what I could find there.. for next year I've done a lot more research and ordered strains from some interesting looking breeders... exotic, joti, sin city, and Inhouse to start .. I'm hoping to get some wild shit next year... anyway, here's the final report for 2019 outdoors....

LSD (Barney's) (Original Skunk #1 X Afghan Indica) .. lime green, real smooth, mellow smoke... the breeder says they named it LSD because it has an almost hallucinogenic, trippy effect ... lol, not quite, but it does knock you on your ass quickly .. the buds were fluffy when cut but have tightened up nicely in cure... but not rock hard. Smell is mostly citrus with a little tiny bit of skunk piss in there... the skunk is definitely more noticeable in the smoke.

IMG_3134.jpg

IMG_3135.jpg

Blue Funk (Expert Seeds) (Blueberry X Cheese) .. this plant pissed me off throughout most of the the grow.. it was always showing signs of deficiencies no matter what I tried, clawing and Mg deficiency especially... it just never seemed healthy... once in flower for a bit I ended up liking this one a lot more... in the garden it had a super strong smell like blueberries wrapped in antonio browns jockstrap ... now in the jar a few weeks it's all blueberry.. best smeller in the garden this year

IMG_3144.jpg

IMG_3149.jpg

Sweet Zkittlez (Royal Queen) (Grape Ape X Grapefruit) .. This is another plant that pissed me off through veg... it was always the tallest fastest growing plant, and got wonky lopsided (prob my fault) .. it flowered the slowest too with unimpressive cola's throughout most of the grow .. the last 2-3 weeks of flower the buds turned beyond purple, almost black, but buds never had a ton of smell in the garden ... after hanging for almost 2 weeks these buds were so dense and sticky I could have easily balled them up like a snowball... brutal to trim ... now the smell is the most unique I've ever smelled ... it's hard to describe but it kind of smells like a new leather jacket, with the pockets stuffed with burnt cherries.... or something like that, it reminds me of an old school barbershop... the smell is so strong now you have to look out when you open a jar... the nugs have cured up amazing, and they're like little granite balls ... I could probably tee one up and hit it 300 yds easy

IMG_3141.jpg

IMG_3142.jpg

Jack Herer (Seedsman Freebie).. didn't expect much from this one.. grew out two of them, one in the ground, and the other in a 15 gal pot.. they looked and smelled the same throughout the grow... the one in the ground probably stretched 2x... but they ended up smelling different after dry and cure.. one of them smells incredible, best described as ripe grapefruit... it's intoxicating.. the other is slightly different, more like an unripe grapefruit and not as strong ... one of the best smokes of the season though

IMG_3152.jpg

IMG_3156.jpg

Galaxy (Pyramid Seeds) (Afghani X Northern Lights).. I grew this last year and it did pretty well.. last year the buds were a little fluffier, but I wasn't in a greenhouse then and I think they came down a couple weeks early... this year they're tighter buds but the smell isn't anything special ... kind of a weak skunky, gym sock smell ... reminds me a lot of Northern Lights, which I've grown quite a bit of, but ended up retiring it in search of better strains....The smoke is pretty good and all around better than anything the dispensaries are putting out... but I think this one will be getting retired as well, there's nothing unique enough, or that stands out, to make it worth an outdoor box moving forward.

@stealthfader508, how did the greenhouse make out with the recent snow storms? I got about a foot and a half, I'm guessing that you got about the same.
not very good my friend... i already ordered steel chain link rail to begin rebuilding immediately .. as it turns out pvc is some pussy shit that I never should have fkd with in the first place .. lol, no big deal

Wow. Sorry to see that. It looks like the center ridge beam failed under the weight of the snow. Steel fence tubing will hold up much better than PVC.

yep, that's exactly what it was .. it was a weird storm, it was a wet snow to begin with and it stuck at first, but then melted quickly... as soon as the ridge started to bend it began collecting water and that was it from there... I've already ordered the steel rail and bending kit... I should have it fixed by xmas but I won't put the new plastic on until early spring... luckily, when my original order of plastic came it had a few tears in it... I sent pics to the manufacturer and they sent me a replacement right away ... so I won't need to order the plastic again ... just a setback that's all, i'll be back in action well before 2020 outdoor kicks in.

Weird storms seem to be normal here. The good thing about December snow is that it usually melts quickly. Now, February snow might hang around until April.

You might want to consider adding a center post to prevent the middle sagging and split the load over the two shorter spans from the greenhouse center to the end walls. Just my 2 cents.

Got outside to clean up the mess today and get it ready to switch to steel hoops... I'm going to lose the 2x4 end walls, and windows as well .. It's too much weight on the ends and the double hung windows are overkill .. I'll use light-weight storm windows and steel to frame the ends

IMG_3257.jpg

You can see the mass of snow and ice that brought it down in the center here... the pvc never stood a chance as soon as it sagged in inch

IMG_3255.jpg

The "ground posts" held up extremely well though, not a single one is out of line or bent in the least .. there was a lot of strain on these center hoops, I had to be careful around them until I was able to relieve some pressure
