Rooted clones in peat pellet kept dying after transplanted to solo cups

No, usually I just use straight up HP Promix and had past success. I can add some rice hulls which I should for a bit more aeration.

Now, if you let the roots grow out of the peat pellet, wouldn't they die as they are exposed to light and air? I have had clones with many roots poking out and hanging off of the peat pellet and they seemed to be OK.
You dont need a dome once roots form and you should go watch some videos about cloning and using the dome. You start cracking the some right away like day three..thats for cuts from a mother ..if your doing it from seed you dont need a dome at all

sounds like the q board is too much and you really only need a 23 watt cfl at this stage.
although the ewc should have microbes in it you need microbes to break down that kelp meal and that takes a long time so basically the kelp meal didnt help you at all...I suggest ditching the ewc and the kelp meal ..I suggest getting a microbe product though.

Why dont you just put them in the hp like you say your going to use and feed the rooted plant 150 ppms of a veg nute (or clonex) with a touch of microbes in it with no dome...(once rooted) they should grow without any problems ...if you have everything else on point.

I assume you had poked holes in the solo cup I didnt see that stated.

From your post my take on it is....you got roots kept them in a dome too long, (didnt do that right,) probably over watered them, put them under a big light and didnt feed it anything.

I kept them in the dome for a few days thinking that would give the root more time to grow as the leaves are in high humidity environment.
Keeping them in a dome gets them hooked on the humidity and doesnt do the roots any good.

Anyway, I will be popping another batch of seeds and transplanting some more clones so we'll see how it goes using only Pro Mix.
propagating from seed, and when taken from a mother plant (clones) are two very different processes.

I went through and transplanted all of my dying seedlings to new solo cups with HP Promix only. I noticed the soil from the original solo cups went anearobic with that nasty smell probably due to the EWC, kelp, and being in the dome too long (no evaporation). When I transplanted the seedlings, I saw that some of the longer roots turned brown / root rott. No wonder all the seedlings were dying and hopefully they will recover now. I foliar fed them with a light solution of kelp extract.

Yeh, I replaced the LED with a 20W CFL. How high should I hang this thing? Right now, they are about a foot or two away from the CFL with a reflector.

Yeh, I know. Currently I have both seedlings and young clones dying so that's why this thread got them all mixed up. But I think I have found the culprit and thanks to you guys for chiming in. The culprit is probably the EWC and Kelp Meal that i added. We'll see whether the seedlings and young clones will recover in the next few days in the HP Promix only soil. I'll keep you guys posted.

Here's a photo of my dying seedlings. The biggest plant is the clone that was just transplanted from peat pellet to HP Promix only soil.

Do you think these seedlings will recover?

You need a microbe product to battle that root rot.

I suggest not to folair feed them till they get established. I guess you can... i dont till they get established on their own. Dont need to push a good thing K>I>S>S>

the cfl could be about 4-5 inches from the top of the plant. 8 inches max...2 foot is way too far. Thats if they are healthy in your situation I guess a foot would be ok.

Raise the light slow the grow let them recover. First thing you do when you have issues.

1 cfl light isnt going to drive all those plants.

Need to add microbes and feed them a low ppm veg nute. Not just water.

Like I said before whats the first thing you do when you bring a baby home? You feed it. Same goes for your plants.

Is that a dome if they are rooted you need to crack that and get them weened off the humidity.

those cups have holes in the bottom??
And you need them in a saucer tray. The run off water will soak through that tent.
