Foxtailing

I am growing

Northern Lights Auto Flower
In Organic Soil
5 Gallon Pot
Lowest Temp 74 F Highest Temp 82 F
RH 40%
Nutes Fox Farm Trio and CalMag as Needed

My plant has been foxtailing for a little bit but recently it has really started to explode. My lights definitely are not strong enough to cause foxtailing and even the little bud in the photo below which is under the canopy, only about an inch from the soil, is foxtailing. I do not believe 82 is hot enough to cause foxtailing but I definitely could be wrong. I also have one bud that is growing a second foxtail bud out of the side of it (I will try to get a decent photo later). The only issue I had was when I went out of town when the plant started flower and some of the leaves got pretty crusty but it bounced back really well as soon as I fed it. I already removed most of the dead leaves but there are still a few near the buds that I plan on getting when I trim. I am also at day 96 which seems to be really long for an auto. I have looked at the trichomes and most are cloudy but I have only seen a handful of amber trichomes on the entire plant. The current plan is to chop Friday but I do not know if I should push that past 100 days. Any thoughts or help will be greatly appreciated.

Keep in mind that with the organic soil and bottled nutrients it is easy to overdo nitrogen. With organic soil you want to wait until you actually see a deficiency starting before you feed anything and then feed gently only what is missing so no adding nitrogen if only potassium is lacking for example.

I find it easier to use a soiless peat based mix like Promix HP, then all my feed is from the bottles and I have complete control from beginning to end without interference from slow released organic nutrients in the soil.

I think autos are a disservice to the cannabis gene pool. Nasty ruderalis genes in the mix. I consider them retards. Can't clone them, pointless.

Rant completed. lol
I've always felt the same, but I recently got some freebe auto so was thinking about some spring time greenhouse auto harvest wouldn't be all bad.

come on man, get a light deprivation curtain setup and some supplemental LED lighting in there and bust out 3 or 4 runs a year with photos. lol
Yeah, I want to, but the greenhouse I'm getting is a tiny one, and not sure how I would automate the light dep. My work schedule fluctuates, so I can't always be there to pull tarps at the same times every day.

Just giving you a hard time. but it is something to ponder. future upgrade perhaps.

Foxtailing is also a trait of some strains ... although common reasons are heat as calyx “ stacks “ vertically to cool.
Also postulated that many sativa varieties evolved in humid climates as the less dense bud structure wasn't as prone to botrytis.

Thank you! My next grow is Bison Breath (Photo) and I am super excited to start so I will pick up some peat based mix or coco. Any thoughts on if I can chop her or should I give her a few more days?
