Honestly Skunk special, this has a stone i love, a massive 3 footer is lucky to produce 1.5-2.5 oz. but the smoke leaves you in lala land.

Right behind that the widow A2 is very very fruity, you better have some serious munchies ready.

and third, and not shown in these trays Super shiva this Extra spicy girl has a taste i crave . my girl is a hermie (i have supressed the male flowers with slective cloning). it seems no matter how i make these bushes you not breaking the 1.5 oz mark!

But really it is so hard i have over 13 flavors cycling, it is a full time job tending to the various needs and it will definatly take alot of your time and money . for me to keep these levels up it requires having Thousands of dollars in hardware.

just to give you a idea, my monthly Co2 bill is reaching 650.00 a month now.
Purchasing nutes is a full time job in itself. trying to keep all this in check and the food levels right is near impossible. if i had notes on everything that would be ideal( but would be stupid), and with all the different strains, you know they all have different flower times. With this type of purchasing power you better make sure you are buying from people that protect you.

I dont want to come here like lougrew or something, and i am no master gardner, i love the whole gardening thing. i grow veggies flowers everything i can! i produce to ensure MYSELF and less than one handful of friends has the top quality bud. what they do with it is not my problem. i am blessed to be able to help others pain and suffering.
for some people this "drug" that is really a weed has been bred stronger over the years to ease the pain of many. Some use this plant for profit, some use this plant for medicine, and others merely use at social occasions. I know couples who use this for Enhancing thier sex lives. i dont see people doing bad things while stoned.

The way Fox Farm and other Nutrient producers have turned this into a big money business sucks. it doesn't cost 149.00 to make 5 gallons of Big Bloom.
the markup is crazy. they could produce gallons at less than 1.50-3.50 yet you will see markups 4000%. they have refined this hobby into a cash cow and it has become trendy. As more and more people start producing it will help ease your local laws over time. i see these 50 - 80 plant ops get busted on a weekly basis, this saturday CNN had a story in california about a ring that had i think 15 houses. Most every op has stolen power!
"Current diversion"Stealing power is done to cover your heavy usage. this california ring had over 92 1k lights in one house all digital! 92@ 360.00 is darn near 40 k in lights! With this type of massive grow ops now coming into play you need to go to the next level of removing heat signatures. these law enforcement profit in so many ways,
they take your cash!
they take your product!
They take your hardware and Auction it!
they take your assets!
So dont expect them to play by the rules in detecting you!

Well those 2 lights are doing a fine job...Maybe when Im skilled enough I can move up to a bigger/better light setup...and I see those cooling tubes are pretty much mandatory for the bigger HPS's.

Something you said earlier kinda struck a cord too. The LEOs detecting grows by heat sigs....is that pretty common overall? Or more in rural areas?

I ask because Im sure 90%+ of the growers (including myself) here do nothing to avoid detection from helicopter flyovers looking for hot spots.

To be honest it's scary how many ops are going down. i love cylinders for winter and early spring, there are new liquid cooled cylinders on the market to. this room is static and has NO fresh air. a winow unit will keep this room in the low 60's if i want. i add co2 @ 5.4 scfm 15 on 15 off during the light cycle. i have excessive BTU's in the rooms though 10000 btu cools 450 foot, not here ! i used 10k btu for 10x12 with 2 lights. this room was kept very cold to stop a mite infestation, the predatory mites i used thrive in 60-70 so i kept these plants at 67-69 day and 61 nights.

Well I'll be checking those out for my light upgrade...Im sure its better in the long run. Too bad the site isnt up yet so I can see pricing etc.

I'll look around in other places for the same type lights. Sure they are gonna hit the pockets hard though.

depends on the reflector, you need a chiller and res. the initial pricing was around 400.00 i think that will drop off.

the site is not up due to the production this idea was born early last year and the first one was out on display sept 06 this unit went into mass production weeks ago. they are almost done with packaging. you can see a real model @ Texas Hydroponics . this fits in any8 inch reflector

You can put your plants 3" inches from the bulb (NO SHIT) this makes you less than 5 inches from the light and NO burn. on a 1k bulb your going to get 140 lumens to your plant that close!

Disclaimer: i have not yet used this product. i was the first consumer to see this product, the unit displayed had 1/4 horse chiller. there could be serious problems with leakage and worn seals. due to the nature i will not purchase till they have UL (underwrites Lab) seal.

Liquid Lumens Water Vessel Q&A

  • Why should I switch to water-cooling?
    • Water-cooling is scientifically proven to be significantly more efficient at removing heat than air; it’s already used in a wide variety of cooling applications from your car’s engine to nuclear power plants and has been for many years. If you switch to water-cooling you can easily reduce the temperature in your growing environment all while conserving energy and costs. Water-cooling allows users with sufficient square footage to add lights to their growing environments, thereby increasing yields without sacrificing plant quality by damaging them with the heat of additional bulbs. Growers can move their lights much closer to the plants without risking heat damage, resulting in more light absorbed by each plant. It also allows your growing environment to be completely self-contained if desired.

  • How does the Hydroflector work?
    • Your bulb is housed in a tube surrounded by a larger tube, which are secured in place by two cleverly designed end cap fittings on either end. The fittings are equipped with custom- made gaskets to keep the unit water-tight. Cool water is circulated from a reservoir through the gap between the two tubes, where it absorbs heat from your bulb before being passed back into the reservoir to cool again (chiller optional) before being pumped back through the unit. Note that your bulb is completely sealed off and would never make contact with the water. Used properly the Hydroflector is completely safe and amazingly efficient.

  • For whom does the Hydroflector work?
    • Anyone who would like a better way to control heat within their growing environment, from the smallest operations to the largest.

  • What equipment to I need to be able to use the Hydroflector?
    • You’ll need your standard bulb/ballast set-up, a reservoir, a small pump, and a reasonable means to cool the water. You can purchase a hood with the unit, or you can retrofit most hoods already designed for 8” air cooling.

  • How do I cool the water?
    • Radiator, reservoir, chiller, or a combination of the three.

  • How much cooling power do I need?
    • Generally speaking, you’ll need a chiller with ¼ HP for every 2000-4000 watts depending on the ambient temperature. If you have a large enough reservoir, a chiller may not be required (we recommend at least 250 gallons per 1000 watts). The amount of water required can vary depending on the reservoir’s location, but can be supplemented with the addition of a radiator. For trickier set-ups or situations not covered, please feel free to call Liquid Lumens directly for advice.

  • To what temperature should I cool the water?
    • The cooler the water is, the less heat will be released into your growing environment. However, the most cost-efficient method is to cool the water just to or slightly above the ambient temperature. We like 80-85 degrees F.

  • What size hose should I use?
    • ½” heavy duty kink-resistant hose, which can be picked up at your local home improvement/hardware store. It’s important to use the kink-resistant hose to avoid pump failure.

  • What size pump should I use?
    • It’s a common misconception that you should use a powerful pump and move the water quickly through the Hydroflector. However, the water needs to spend some time inside the unit to maximize its heat absorption capabilities, so we recommend a smaller pump for slow, steady flow. The slower the better, but a wide range of gpm’s will work suitably. For larger in-line set ups, we recommend an in-ground pool pump. You can call LL any time for recommendations if you’re not sure.

  • What size reservoir do I need?
    • If you’re using a chiller, your reservoir can be as small as 10 gallons; however, the bigger the reservoir the cooler the water will stay and the greater it’s heat absorption capabilities. If you’re not using a chiller we recommend a minimum of 100 gallons per 1000 watts, preferably 250 gallons per 1000 watts.

  • Can I use a metal halide bulb with the Hydroflector?
    • Yes, but it must be a conversion bulb.

  • Can I air-cool with the Hydroflector?
    • Absolutely. The Hydroflector was designed to allow it to be air-cooled, water-cooled, or both.

  • Do I need to air-cool with the Hydroflector?
    • Absolutely not. The air-cooling is merely an option LL offers for to allow for the most flexibility in use.

  • If I decide to water- and air-cool my lights, what size air ducting do I need?
    • 4” flexible, preferably insulated, ducting.

  • Are there any restrictions on the type of ballast I can use?
    • No, but we do recommend that your ballast is plugged in through a GFCI relay or into a GFCI plug. The GFCI relay can be purchased at your local hardware store or through Liquid Lumens.

  • How much does the unit weigh?
    • Approximately 30 lbs full of water.

  • Do I need to brace the ceiling where the unit hangs?
    • This is a judgment call. If you’re concerned about your studs/joists holding the 30 lb weight, you may want to build a brace that extends over several joists instead of hanging it from just two. Never hang the unit directly from sheetrock.

  • How much water does it hold?
    • Approximately 1 ½ gallons.

  • Does the water I use in the unit have to be filtered?
    • The water doesn’t have to be filtered since you can easily take the unit apart, clean it, and reassemble. However, if you do use filtered water your cleaning frequency will decrease significantly. Reverse osmosis water is preferred but not necessary.

  • Can I use a filter in-line with the unit?
    • Absolutely, and in fact we recommend it.

  • Can I use pond or pool water?
    • No, but if you have a radiator you can submerge it in a pond or pool to chill the clean water running through the unit.

  • Does the water in the unit restrict the lumens output?
    • Slightly. However, the minimal restriction of output is overwhelmingly compensated for and then some by the ability to move your lights much closer to your plants.

  • Will the Hydroflector parts break down in the UV light?
    • The fittings are constructed using super-strong injection-molded ABS plastic mixed with the highest amount of UV inhibitor possible. This will allow for years and years of dependable service without concern for UV damage.

  • Do I need to replace the gaskets? If so, how often?
    • The gaskets are an injection-molded Neoprene/EPDM rubber mix. This material will break down over time, so we recommend replacing the gaskets every two years.

  • Should I use a lubricant on the gaskets?
    • Yes, during assembly we recommend using Dawn dishwashing liquid (or other liquid soap). This will ease assembly/reassembly and will not affect the water in the reservoir. We do not recommend any oil-based lubricant.

  • Can I get replacement parts? How?
    • Definitely. Every part, including the glass tubes, can be easily purchased a la carte on the Liquid Lumens website for a very reasonable price.

  • What happens if I make a mistake in the assembly or the unlikely event of a manufacturer’s defect, and the unit does leak?
    • The intelligent design of the Hydroflector means that a leak for any reason is highly unlikely. We took that one step further and designed the unit such that it is nearly impossible for the water to contact the bulb or the electrical components even in the event of a leak. 9 times out of 10, the head pressure of your pump will not exceed the siphoning vacuum of the water exiting the unit, so if there were a leak the unit is much more likely to draw air in than to leak water out. Additionally, if water were to leak into the inner tube, it would pour out the end cap before ever getting high enough to make contact with the bulb. However, nothing is impossible so taking the worst case scenario into consideration we strongly recommend the GFCI connection (see above and below).

  • What safety measures has Liquid Lumens taken?
    • If the measures outlined above don’t make you feel safe enough, a no flow/no go switch can be purchased through the Liquid Lumens website. This will shut down your ballast, relay, and/or timer off in the event of pump failure.

  • What is a GFCI and why do I need it?
    • GFCI stands for Ground Fault Circuit Interrupt. Simply stated, it will shut off the power to the plug if it senses a short (i.e., if water contacts any electrical component, the GFCI will immediately remove power).

  • Does the unit truly operate silently? How?
    • Absolutely, when water-cooling only. As a rule, chillers are very quiet (much quieter than your refrigerator) and the water pumps are usually submerged. As you’re aware, adding air-cooling adds noise from air-flow.

Good thing...TxHydro is where I shop. I guess I didnt know to ask about it the last time I was in there. I'll check next week when I drop by to re-up on supplies. I was gonna actually get the 150w blue veg cfl...and the 150w red bloom cfl lights from there.

My ole' lady wants to grow shit now(herbs/spices/plants/flowers). So Im building her a grow cab for the livingroom. Anyway...I was gonna get those lights for her setup.

As far as the watercooled lights....that'll be for me. When I go I'll ask the guy if I can take a pic...they have a grow of some peppers/tomatos etc going in there. Hopefully they'll be using those lights. Maybe nice to see them in action...and get an updated briefing on the "for sale" date.
