You can wash in H2O2 for a few minutes... Here is a nice video that is for WPM but works with bug feces as well...
Exactly. Cold clear water. Chop your bud and wash it. Just put it in the water and gently agitate it. Then hang to dry.
I Like to do it next to a clean dish washer then lightly agitate them in 3 different buckets of water then I put them in the dishwasher to let the water drip off, then put them in a 2x2 tent with a temp humidity meter and air being ventilated by a small 4" inline fan.
Wow, great info... Thanks everyone! Well, last year I
did try washing the bud, and what I found is that the trichomes and the bud itself actually grow
around the poop. It's gross. I found that everything you've said here is true re: gentle agitation in a cold water rinse leaves behind a surprising amount of nasty residue cleaned from the bud, but-- in my case-- the poop remained stuck on the bud. Bugs themselves were cleaned from the bud, but both the poop and the "invisible" strands of silken webbing were still everywhere.
Now remember what I've mentioned earlier in this thread-- it was all just about invisible to the naked eye. It
seems like there
may be some dark discoloration here and there, but under closer observation it's easy to dismiss as some sort of mistake or illusion or your eyes playing tricks. But if you go with that notion and take a moment to check with one of those small, hand-held microscopes, you'll find that most of the time you actually
did see something... And while you're looking you discover more and more and more, like thin white strands, or tiny hairs, or a subtle white peach-fuzz (
not trichomes) I learned is called "Pistil Mold", etc. But then-- surprisingly-- when you pull back from the microscope and look at your bud, it looks frickin' gorgeous. Lovely. Clean & delicious! It does
not look at all like the microscopic bug-dump you were just looking at.
I'm thinking of posting a new thread on bug-poop, because it's been a recurring nightmare for me on multiple levels. For this thread here, we should maybe stay on-topic; but I've been finding bug poop time and time again in MOST buds I've gotten since I began checking in June, and
that includes dispensary bud! A topic for another thread perhaps (I'll post a link here when I start it), but if each of you right now checks your own bud that you've been smoking, I think that-- like me-- you'll all be surprised at what you find. I think that it might be reasonably OK too, everyone: the sky is
not falling... It's just that we don't live life under a microscope, and when you look at our world under a microscope, it becomes pretty disgusting. Your bed-pillow, your silverware-- everything has a tiny little micro-verse on it, & it's not all clean & tidy. So I think we humans are resilient creatures who safely "consume" lots of microscopic nasty things every day without any risk or problem. In other words...
I've learned that bug-poop is more common than most of us realize and the rest of us are willing to admit.
If you begin checking your bud (even dispensary bud) for tiny bug-poops, you may be forced to make a decision: Do I throw this out, or keep smoking it anyways?? I mean, if the bud still smokes well, does it's job, and you couldn't tell it was poopy
before you checked, then-- you think-- I may as well just keep going. Why waste otherwise good bud? But then-- once you actually see it on your bud, for real, you can't un-see it. And it can be gross. Depending on all the different non-plant anomalies you find in your foray under the microscope, it may be downright disgusting... Even though it smokes fine & looks fine to the naked eye. It's funny when you observe what your mind tells you about such things. It's funny also to see what the minds of others say about such things. (Cast your vote in the poll above, if you haven't already)
Thank you, everyone, for being part of the conversation. For real.
