I'm still in the learning stage right now. You can find tales of my first grow here:
https://www.rollitup.org/newbie-central/122035-can-i-make-work.html and in my grow journal, which is in my sig. It's a bit of an embarrassing spectacle so far, but I'm learning a lot.
fun huh?
My plan is to get some clones off these plants(I have 4 going) for my next grow, which I'm going to do under a 250w mh light, on a 2'x2' eb and flow table. I think I've got a pretty good idea on how to put one together based on reading journals and Al B's thread, but I haven't seen any explicit DIY instructions. Even in the faq, the eb and flow section is empty.
i think the reason it's empty is most folks will agree that you just gotta buy the tables.....they are just better to the ones your going to be able to build...i learned from alb's threads also.....your in good company here as long as you manage to keep sparkafire from getting up in arms.
Maybe later today I'll get ambitious and draw up what I have planned so far, and post it. I figure for now I'll just get this one table going, then when I feel comfortable with that, expand to a second, third, and eventually 4th table for the ROG. I'll keep the little grow space I have now, which is under a combination of CFLs and fluoros for my mother(s) and clones. I do have a couple questions that have been nagging at me:
sounds like you got it planned pretty well.
How high do you put the overflow drain in the table if you're using 6" pots? I think I saw 3" somewhere, but am not sure.
it only needs to flood a couple of inches, just make sure that if your using rw that you keep the flood line about 1/2" below the rw cubes. but a third of the way up is how far mine go.
Do you need a second pump to drain the table, or can you just let gravity drain it?
nope.....good ol' free gravity
I plan on having my clones in 1" rockwool, since I now have a ton of it lying around. What do you recommend for the rest of the grow medium? I can cut up my useless 6" rockwool cubes into pellets, but will that hold too much moisture?
