I like that idea. But with my work schedule....I don't know if I can make it work. I'm gone before my lights come on and home an hour before they go out. If really considering setting up an autofeed so I can feed like that all the time. Everyday...couple times a day.
My damn work schedule is really starting to interfere with my hobby! Lol

So you use kelp and humic with hydroton in the waterfarm basket?
And by dtw do you mean you dump the bottom bucket periodically?

yeah, i have a standalone 30 gal res that autofeeds my waterfarms once a day. i use BioAg CytoPlus: a dry kelp/humic powder

and to modify it to dtw, just cut the blue tubing about 1 inch above the white line. my res top feeds the waterfarm and the excess comes out the blue tubing. they get a fresh batch of nutes daily.

I have bought and DIYd several Waterfarms. They are beautiful in their simplicity and function. And a great "tweak" turning them into a DTW!

Two more questions...what do you use for a res. pump timer? And what have you seen/smelt/tasted using the BioAg CytoPlus? Thanks.

for my timer, it's just a multi program digital timer from walmart. i've been using 5 mins for veg and 7 mins for bloom to get the right runoff for my setup.

my smells/tastes have gone up and my EC has gone down since using it. I love it. and it's cheap too. i run at half gram per gallon and i think i buy the 300 gram bag off Ebay.

i run it all thru the grow. towards the end, i bump up my epsom salts to 2g/gal for the sulfur which also helps smells and tastes.

and yeah man, waterfarms kick ass IMO. i 've done a few more mods like bigger holes in the top bucket and i add an airstone once the roots hit the lower res.

So I run a partial organic line as well; were I can mix and match based on media type I happen to be testing and one little tip I would suggest that has made all my concoctions perform well is a pinch of yucca for every 5 gallons. I haven't locked out in 1.5 years. Or plugged a .25 line in that same time. So moral of the story is whatever nutrient you endeavor to play with this surfactant will help you a bunch.

Just a thought...do you think the weekly flush brings the average EC down a bit?
But it the end, the plant always has the last say.
And if your in/out are close and your tips aren't burned, then you have a happy plant that can take 1.8!

No, I dont think the weekly EC flush makes a big difference. I do that purely as a safety net. But aslong as I water with 20% runoff im good.

Should you really be watering a hempy every day or 2x a day? I thought cannabis liked a wet/dry cycle, doesn't that cause it to just be wet all the time?

I'm about three weeks into flower and watering every 2-3 days. 5 liter pots

That makes sense. For my next run, I want to use larger pots. I have a box shape container that is about 15 gallons, but only 6 inches high - this seems perfect for hempy to me, since it can have a huge reservior, and it won't take long for the roots to hit the water. Any downsides to using a large but short container like this? I'll probably put 2 plants in it, about 20 inches apart

towards the end of my hempy days, i used planters like you'd put flowers in on a deck rail. about 2 ft long and same as you, about 6" tall. i drilled about 3 holes 2" from the bottom and had 3 plants in it. didnt' veg for long so they didn't get too big.

the sky is the limit with what you can use for a hempy

Ive not flowered/tasted any of them. ... In addition Ive got my fresh harvest (40 hempys) and 25 or so 3 weeks from harvest.

My dilemma after hearing all this bitching, Is 'Do I pull my crop'? .... I'm 95% certain in the next couple of hours I'll do just that..... After that I can really tell this busy-body what I think of her.

Ahhh Mannn ... what to do? what to do? ... Ive gotta feeling? ... and its not that song by the Black eyed peas.... I'm gonna have joint and bubblebath while I ponder this a bit more..... Arrrrgghhh

Ok my question about Hempy, I reside in an illegal state, anything above four plants is a felony, I currently grow 4 plants in soil medium in 15 gallon fabric pots, I train, I top, super crop I stress the hell out of them but do get way above average yeilds, from what I read I would have to grow a bunch of plants to even get close to yeilds I get now I have the room but lean on the side of misdemeanor versus felony, lol I'm going to try Watt saver set up, great info guys pushed me into trying it

First coco hempies. i've grown a couple of plants to harvest in perlite/vermiculite.

Had them on first bloom feed of 1.3. new feed soon going up to 1.4
