I like that idea. But with my work schedule....I don't know if I can make it work. I'm gone before my lights come on and home an hour before they go out. If really considering setting up an autofeed so I can feed like that all the time. Everyday...couple times a day.i fed 2x a day in bloom in hempys at a much lower ppm. that might help get your runoff out of your coco lower. more feedings with about 20% runoff/less nutes. 300 ppm instead of 600ppm.
How often do you water?I'm running 1.4-1.8EC using hempy.
Plants seem to be happy no burn...
@1.2 I get cal mag deficiency

So you use kelp and humic with hydroton in the waterfarm basket?totally agree. 1.2 is the highest i've ever ran.
i run waterfarms now DTW and i'm only at EC 0.7 with my well water at 0.2 (0.5 nutes) once i started using a kelp/humic powder, i've been able to run a much lower EC
I water twice per day.How often do you water?
And do you check EC of runnoff?
that's how i have mine setup. 30 gal trashcan, submersible pump, 6 outlet manifold and silicone tubing out to each plant. i can go away for 2 weeks without worry. If really considering setting up an autofeed
yeah, i have a standalone 30 gal res that autofeeds my waterfarms once a day. i use BioAg CytoPlus: a dry kelp/humic powderSo you use kelp and humic with hydroton in the waterfarm basket?
And by dtw do you mean you dump the bottom bucket periodically?
I have bought and DIYd several Waterfarms. They are beautiful in their simplicity and function. And a great "tweak" turning them into a DTW!yeah, i have a standalone 30 gal res that autofeeds my waterfarms once a day. i use BioAg CytoPlus: a dry kelp/humic powder
and to modify it to dtw, just cut the blue tubing about 1 inch above the white line. my res top feeds the waterfarm and the excess comes out the blue tubing. they get a fresh batch of nutes daily.
for my timer, it's just a multi program digital timer from walmart. i've been using 5 mins for veg and 7 mins for bloom to get the right runoff for my setup. Two more questions...what do you use for a res. pump timer? And what have you seen/smelt/tasted using the BioAg CytoPlus? Thanks
Great tips. Thanks for sharing.for my timer, it's just a multi program digital timer from walmart. i've been using 5 mins for veg and 7 mins for bloom to get the right runoff for my setup.
my smells/tastes have gone up and my EC has gone down since using it. I love it. and it's cheap too. i run at half gram per gallon and i think i buy the 300 gram bag off Ebay.
i run it all thru the grow. towards the end, i bump up my epsom salts to 2g/gal for the sulfur which also helps smells and tastes.
and yeah man, waterfarms kick ass IMO. i 've done a few more mods like bigger holes in the top bucket and i add an airstone once the roots hit the lower res.
So I run a partial organic line as well; were I can mix and match based on media type I happen to be testing and one little tip I would suggest that has made all my concoctions perform well is a pinch of yucca for every 5 gallons. I haven't locked out in 1.5 years. Or plugged a .25 line in that same time. So moral of the story is whatever nutrient you endeavor to play with this surfactant will help you a bunch.I agree with your conclusion on the overfeeding after bouncing it back and forth with you. No doubt.
Just a thought...do you think the weekly flush brings the average EC down a bit?I water twice per day.
I check run off every few days. I put 1.8 in get 1.8 out. I flush with plain water weekly.
Just a thought...do you think the weekly flush brings the average EC down a bit?
But it the end, the plant always has the last say.
And if your in/out are close and your tips aren't burned, then you have a happy plant that can take 1.8!
treat a hempy like hydro. the 2" res at the bottom should be wet all the time IMO.I thought cannabis liked a wet/dry cycle, doesn't that cause it to just be wet all the time?
towards the end of my hempy days, i used planters like you'd put flowers in on a deck rail. about 2 ft long and same as you, about 6" tall. i drilled about 3 holes 2" from the bottom and had 3 plants in it. didnt' veg for long so they didn't get too big. That makes sense. For my next run, I want to use larger pots. I have a box shape container that is about 15 gallons, but only 6 inches high - this seems perfect for hempy to me, since it can have a huge reservior, and it won't take long for the roots to hit the water. Any downsides to using a large but short container like this? I'll probably put 2 plants in it, about 20 inches apart
Pull it dude,. Better safe than sorry. LolA bit of BAD NEWS for me.
Ive got a troublesome cow of a neighbour who bought a house upstairs. Anyways, I hear shes made a complaint to my landlord that shes smells me smoking MJ frequently. The landlord has not contacted me but she (neighbour) told someone who then came to me. This neighbour HATES me. I wouldn't put it past her to call the cops.
I'm really nervous and gutted. I have some nice healthy mothers ready for cloning. 5 cheese, 4 G13, 2 Lemon skunk. I also have 50 rooted clones and 50 unrooted clones (went in last night). .... Ive not flowered/tasted any of them. ... In addition Ive got my fresh harvest (40 hempys) and 25 or so 3 weeks from harvest.
My dilemma after hearing all this bitching, Is 'Do I pull my crop'? .... I'm 95% certain in the next couple of hours I'll do just that..... After that I can really tell this busy-body what I think of her.
Ahhh Mannn ... what to do? what to do? ... Ive gotta feeling? ... and its not that song by the Black eyed peas.... I'm gonna have joint and bubblebath while I ponder this a bit more..... Arrrrgghhh
