Sister woke to a dusting in Highlands Ranch. {thanks to the current events, I can now remember which of the Denver 'burbs my niece lives in}It snowed lightly all night in northern Colorado. No accumulation because the ground is too warm. Today's 'high' is expected to be 41.

Sister and her daughter were in the air when it was all going down. We were able to find out the kids were OK, and let them know as soon as they landed. They hadn't heard until then.Jesus... I lived a mile away from Columbine High School on the same street when that went down.
America's ability to recognize a problem and implement timely solutions is really impressive, isn't it?
When it rains...So much for 10%. It's pouring outside.
Rumbling thunder. I can honestly say I haven't heard that since mid July when a dry T storm came through and lit the mountains on fire. I used to enjoy a T storm but these dry storms are summer ruiners.We had a late afternoon shower. Really needing it in the garden, although the water level is still higher than average if my pond is any indicator.
At 1930 it's mostly cloudy, 80F with 76% humidity. Forecast low of 69F tonight, with 10% chance of rain. {although I'm still hearing thunder rumble}
Lightning is scary in a drought. I bitch about dry weather, but it's been 20 years since we've had a really bad fire year. There was fire at the Daytona speedway the 4th of July weekend 1998, causing the Pepsi 400 to be run at the end of the season that year. We've had small fires since, but nothing on a scale like that one.Rumbling thunder. That's the one thing I like about the east, the thunderstorms. I remember visiting New England and the sky was always a bit hazy with humidity and sometimes the storms snuck up on you because the haze just seemed to get denser. In the west, the thunderheads stand out sharply against the dry, blue sky and give you fair warning.Lightning is scary in a drought. If we hold true to the last two years, our rainy season will start in 3-5 weeks, and it will rain almost every day until late September/early October. Most days there will be thunderstorms.
We didn't really have an off season for skeeters this past winter. There were less of them, but with so much rain, they didn't go away.Sun early, then rain showers, then a nice evening.
I'm enjoying them all I can before the mosquitoes hatch.
