1920w and 1280w monster strip builds

Your build looks good, the centre will be a hot spot, you could move a few strips from the centre to the outer sides to even it out a bit. The centre will be hotter the higher up you run the light from the canopy, if you intend on running the lights really close to the canopy then leave them as they are.
They are gonna be pushed super soft. And extremely efficient. They are gonna be pushed clear down at 500mA there wont be any hot spot. They are gonna be spread out. Gap between the two strips. That will have far reds and hyper reds in the center for emmerson effect.

I'm not using Samsung strips.

No worries, think of the light emission as wide triangles that overlap, I have done builds like you are doing now for years, that's why I know that it will hot spot in the centre. It's not a real big deal but you will have an improved spread placing more strips on the outer edges.

It depends on what 480h driver 24a or C series driver and which strips. Theres fb22b and fb24b the 22s are single rows and the 24s are double rows.

Hlg-480h-48a is 10 Amps max. 6 double row strips will be pushed at 1666mA they max at 3600mA they will be run at roughly 80w per strip at 1666mA. Typ on these is 2240mA. So you'll be below typ current and should run fairly cool.

Hlg-480h-48a with single row strips is the same current. 1666mA their max is 1800mA if your gonna push the single rows at 1666mA they should be ok on aluminum channel. But they will be pushed above typ. Typ is 1120mA on the single rows.
Thanks for the response, these are the strips i currently have in my cart.

I had it in my head that maybe i could run 6 strips per 480 dimmable driver, maxing the strips out at 80w per. wasnt sure if that was too hard or not. Now im not sure its the correct strips for this plan or not .

So 18 strips and 3 drivers was the idea, tell me if im crazy and should just go a different route lol

Yeah those are thefb24bs. Double row. You can run more than 6 to bring down the current to get more efficiency out of them. If you go with an hlg-480h-48a you can 10 if you want. And bring them down to 2000mA per strip. The max on those is 3600mA. Upfront costs is more bc they are expensive. But if you want my honest opinion go with single rows. Run more of them. Softer. Or if money isnt a problem run the double rows. Buy more. Run 10-12 per driver. If not 6 per driver will be super bright.

Price wise double the amount of single rows. Run soft. As long as you go with a 48a driver you can jus keep adding strips dropping current making them more efficient each time. You could probably run up to 20 before you start getting voltage drop. And get dim diodes. I have 13 2 footers on a HLG-320h-24A and 6 96 diode lm561c on a hlg240 and it slams my plants. Maxed out its pushing 660w with added reds. And reads almost 1877par on my meter. Which is extremely too much without co2. So I run them extremely dimmed.

Thanks very much for the detailed answer and opinion. Always great reading your stuff.

Helped me understand things better.

I think i will take the advice and run 10 double rows per 480h-48a, gain some efficiency and still have lots of light above my table. Any recommendation on strip spacing? min/max rule of thumb?

The fixtures will be hanging above a 4x8 table in a room thats 9x16, i am seriously considering running co2 as well

If your running the double rows. I'd go atleast 4 inches between them. The higher the light fixture the wider the light overlaps from strip to strip. But you also lose intensity at higher spacing between lighting and canopy. I stay roughly 10-18" when I crank it up. But if I run them dimmed, I stay close 5-6"

Best way to look at it. The light from strips are 120° each way. Just as @TEKNIK said about hot spots. You will have some where the light overlaps. Like the angles above. If you keep going down they will eventually overlap. I havent used any double rows at all in the Sammy's. So I'm not sure where they put out at. But my single rows I have 3.25" spacing. But i run them so firm the hot spot between strips almost negligible.

Thanks for all the helpful info.

I have 30 strips and 3 drivers in my digikey cart. Kinda maxes out the ole light budget for the time being. By the time I buy the other stuff I need ( frame , wire, wagos etc)

I think I'm actually ready to pull the trigger and finally buy lol

Huge thanks WW, you have been very helpful to this newb.

Also thanks to @Chip Green for pointing me in the right direction

thanks

both of you..

not cheap compared to china made..but good quality fast shipping.

...i gotta get some..and/or Welllights with far red

also may get the shorter ones for a one plant bucket project

hopefully half the price

i have had great success cooling with ac muffin fans..i bought box of 50

Honestly though the single strips are cheaper. Plus you can almost buy 2 for every double row. And then you can spread the strips apart farther and get even better coverage.

i have found i like the double rows after buying china single rows afew years ago and ending up doubling them up

but thanks i will think about it...because the extra wattage they have in em is easier to disipate singe row..

trying to find them on mouser because digikey is never not expensive
