led grow light

i was wondering what people think is better. a cob grow light or a quantum board and why .
would say 100watts of cobs be = to 100watts of quantum board if both are 3500k
what gets hotter and what would last longer

My take is that a QB panel is able to operate at a slightly higher efficacy compared to most cobs. To match with cobs requires running them at lower power so more of them are needed...kinda the point of using a QB style panel IMO.

so its more about power efficiency QBs being the more efficient and cobs being less and require more cobs running @ lower watts to match the spread of the QB
would you say the spectrum is any different between them or is 3500k the same regardless

no i haven't and im trying to decide if this light is good CXB3590 2' x 2' LED Grow Kit
Rapid LED
or if a QB running the same watts is better because i can get both for about the same cost when they are back in stock. im thinking the 3 cobs will be better because maybe they have more spread but it looks really big and heavy and maybe it will get allot hotter

It's gonna be the same heat.
Four cobs will give you the best spread of light.

Anything from hlg, rapid & timber you will be good with for kits, diy as well as plug & play. For diy and good prices I suggest cobkits.com as well.

Cxb is a good chip from what I hear and have read. I dont have too much experience with cobs. I was originally going to use them. I decided qb' would best suit my needs. qb' & cobs grow great pots, it's a matter of preference really.
Other than that, if you want to geek out and get nutty gritty on both you could spend days picking over the tec. Click the link I provided too the led section there is a wealth of knowledge there.
You're also more likely to get feedback in that area. Not to say you wont get it here, you will but you're more likely to learn more there and get faster responses. People go in to that area and dont comeback!

What QB are you running?

ok that makes it easier for me to decide
ill buy a cob light its allitle cheaper and if the heat output is about the same plus spectrum the same and spread is ok
would you say 150w is really enough for a 2x2 ish space

their heat and if they fall, just have to make sure theyre installed and secured very well, by the time you buy or build a proper mounting system might as well go qb
thermal run away ?? what would cause that to happen as in what cases the chip to fail if its mounted correctly to a heat sink
