The Garage grow

What's up guys I was looking to get some input on my 1st grow room design. I will be using a section of my garage. The space is around 10'6 x 24'. I want to have 2 maybe 3 sections for flowering, vegging, and workspace. A buddy of mine is a grower and he's had great success with outdoor grows and now has started an indoor grow so with all that excitement I thought why not. I need in on the action. I've read a lot about different techniques and startegy.

So my 1st thought was go LED and hps bc in the summer here its extremely hot so heat will be an issue. I was thinking 4 electric sky es300s and maybe 2 400-600w hps for flowering. I was thinking scrog. Grown in coco. Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My advice if you going to build it out is get a mini split. A 35000 btu will handle a 8 light room with Co2 and 1000w de’s. For those six light rooms you could probably get by with a dual zone. Co2 burner and a dehumidifier and you’ll be hitting 2 per light in no time.

From what I have seen, led’s have a bit to go before they can be the main light source if your trying to slam heavy rounds.

If your running multiple lights AND building a grow space then spend money on AC and seal it up.
LEDs are good
HPS is good (don't go 400s)
CMH is good.

Decent lights are expensive.- can save a few bob if you self build LEDs.

Garages get hot in the summer so you may need a little extra AC. 8 x 1kW DE HPS may need more like 48000 btu/hr in a garage. I know that 9600 watts and a co2 generator max my 4 ton unit out and I'm in a cool basement.

Thanks I'll look into the mini split

Thanks I'm definitely going to look into some type of ac/heating system

For an 8x8 area what would be the best combination of led and hid lighting. First grow this room will start from seed. The room will also be sealed for co2 use. Along with ac. I was thinking around 10 plants.

I'm also in the process of building and moving into garage. As all above has said, a mini split is a must! I wouldn't attempt it without one. I personally think it would be a good idea to insulate garage the best you can to seal it up, reduce electricity bill from split system working its arse off, having no light leaks and prevent yummy smells drifting into the neighbours yard!? The only problem im having is trying to figure out how to cool both rooms (or in your case 3 rooms?) With the 1 big split system and not allow light from veg room to get into flower room...... Also not having a beaming light come out of the door every time I go into the garage!!? Just some food for thought Rdot!!

I'll have to see how I need to set the mini split up accordingly but my thought were build walls to totally contain the area with sliding doors for access so no outside light will leak with everyday garage use.

You can use our SPLED--640 1500 umol/s full spectrum LED grow light. Each light covers 5x5 for flowering.
We can give you 600W HPS ballast for free.

Hey Rdot! I think I'm going to go for a couple of very large tents in mine with a false wall to separate from the remaining part of my garage. This way I feel I can have better control of my veg room and flower room. I will be using a portable reverse cycle for my veg tent (has exhaust ducting that spits the hot air out of the tent that is generated from the unit itself) and a portable mini split system for flower. (Has 2 units, one inside the tent that recycles the air in the tent and cools, and the other unit sits outside the tent and cools the motor of the inside unit) this way I can still pretty well have a sealed flower room with co2 supplementation. I will insulate inside garage with grow tents and false wall only to minimise expenses and help keep temps outside of tents lower. Hope this gives you an idea or 2 for your future setup!!?

Ok guys I've narrowed it down to 4 timber redwoods of 4 hlg 550 v2 for my 8x8 footprint my ceiling is 9ft is this enough for the space. I'm also going with a mini split for heating and cooling.

Ok so I have an area 10x14x9 I want to best use the space to maximize yield. Would I need 4 main lights with other supplementary lights between. And how many plants should I run? To say yield 5lbs dry

For lighting I was thinking the timber fatty or redwoods with supplementary lights for somewhere 4000w
