Fluence Ray 66”?

I would be more concerned why someone is willing to get rid of them at a loss after a run or two?
Good point. I seen some more fluence lights too some Fluence VyperX plus.
Maybe I’ll hold off tho. I am taking a gamble on an alibaba 600 watt 6 bar fixture. Which was about $440.

I f you can get four 66's for $500 I would jump at it at $500 a piece on Amazon
no clue why you hesitate
Have you not shopped around much? There are so many light deals now you can be picky lol.

So the guy said he started working for scyence led. Anyone seen their dragon xl1200 yet? Looks like he has some of those for a decent deal as well.

Just started my first led grow with
anyone use these? Have a chance to get 4 lightly used ones for $500. Seems like a great deal.
I just started a cycle with the ray 22s only about two weeks in so I can’t speak on how well the light interact with the plant through a full cycle but they are feeding my sprouts pretty well. My advice is definitely get the dimmer. The wait time on them is about 7 weeks though so that unfortunate. Mine actually just came in today. Installing tonight.

@Or_Gro you seen those scyence leds yet? Looks like you can change the spectrums? I thought this is something you would possibly be into. Maybe even @Randomblame

@Or_Gro how you liking this snow lol!?
I don’t know anything about scynce, looked them up: saw dragon 600 model looked over each channels’s spectrum and specs...imo, you can do better performance diy w qb 96e or 288s and supplemental blues and reds...i didn’t compare prices...ask tbone for his point of view...

This is a strange winter...we haven’t accumulated much, and it then melts during day....but 2 snowdays this month, so far...

Read a little more, that controller feature i didn’t see earlier... could put it in a better position than diy...would be worth digging into, to see what exactly you can do spectrum-wise.

But $2000, not worth it to me vs what i can already do...

Agree. Little to expensive lol. I did see some in Craigslist for $1000 or so though. 1200 watts for $1000 isn’t too bad.

I would rather take the ray66‘s! I don't lelieve lenses do something useful. Yepp, they focus the light so you lost less light on the wall but in the same time they have only 95% transmission rate and you're forced to set a higher distance to avoid burnings. A light hiiting 2,43μMol/J with lenses would probably reach 2,55μMol/J without them.
And there is no penetration because of strong light, thats completely sense free. Diffuse light is what travels deeper into the canopy. They get better penetration because they use multiple light sources which are creating a more diffuse light thru multiple overlapping.

The ray66 can be used with 6" distance and I bet my bike you get higher readings and a better penetration at the recommended hanging height with 4 ray66 compared to one dragonXL. With such a low distance you really don't need lenses to avoid light loss! You could even turn the outer ray66's hanging next to the tent walls by 15-25° to direct the light on the canopy and away from the walls. This would reduce light loss even more and you still don't need a lens.

And for the price of one dragonXL you can get an Amare bar8(with rui discount). 2,7μMol/J, 880w max, +1700μMol/s PPF that's enough for a 5x 5' area and the degree of flexibility these light offers is simply amazing. You can splitt it even in half if you want or use a few bars as side lights. We have a thread about these light here in the LED area, btw..

Yeah I totally agree I just thought the spectrum adjusting seemed interesting.
I like the bar setups more too. Better spread for a better yield.

Yeah, spectrum tuning is a nice feature but with a dimmable good all-in-one spectrum there is almost no benefit other like a little energy saving. With a blue heavy veg spectrum you could use a few watts less and still get enough blue for compact growth but we talk about 20w or so. My first lamp was a 4k COB light using 8 Vero29gen5, my 2nd was Cree COB 3,5k + 660 and since a while I'm using only 3k but a mix of CRI80 and 90 and my results speak for themself.

I really like the strip/bar design the most because it allows you to add more bars if you want and the low hanging height increase the efficiency enormously. This way you can also add separate dimmable blue and red/far-red bars if you want. Strips with different Osram horticulture bins already exists, you can get them even with the new Square series if you want(LED-tech.de for instance).

>you have found this combo better than none or added reds to cobs?

I’ve said this before, but worth saying again ...white leds by samsung and others take growing potential to a whole new level...and they are now a commodity available to anyone who can build/contract circuit boards.

We will see white leds proliferate and replace blurples for sure and likely other types of grow lights.

With due respect to @Randomblame , who certainly is way above my paygrade in all of this, i think simple, truly tunable, programmable, plug-n-play, and reasonably priced switch/tune/dim controllers are the next big value add for white-leds with supplemental uv/blue/deep red/far red/ir all-in-1 prop-to-flower lights. But i don’t think most growers are competent enuff to use them at this point, tho...hell, most growers have never used a light intensity meter yet, let alone tunable spectra.

Lots of new white-led based lights will be coming on the market in the next few years...

We’ll see, imo, lights like the 96e’s are gonna give this mindset a run for it’s money, they can stop height extension so well (without excessive heat or burn) and bulk up buddage so well, that our obsession with having lights practically at leaftip will not be the same concern as in the past.
