From what I understand, you start counting as soon as you flip the plant to 12/12. However, there are a number of factors that may push your expected date slightly in one direction or the other.Thank YOU.
So When do I start counting days..when I see first hair or?
I buy fem so 99% is femWaiting a while (2 even 3 weeks) to see sign of sex is a good thing because males tend to show quick compared to females.
From what i read no...from when you flip Plant is in transition phase...hormons...I dont know that part Well but know that I read that flip day is no day 1 of flowerFrom what I understand, you start counting as soon as you flip the plant to 12/12. ^ don't do this. It takes up to two weeks (you need to develop patience doing this)Took mine 3 weeks to show pistils because they weren’t mature enough. And I vegged for 4 weeks. That’s the conclusion I came to anyway because they are looking swell now after waiting enough time.
Considering it’s been 5 days if I were you I would flip them back, give them another couple week and then try again. I doubt they will hermie. I’ve read everywhere that it takes 2 weeks for a plant to commit itself to flowering so you should be alright but check with the more veteran growers! The risk here is that you continue to let it sit at 12:12 and then you’re still scratching your head 3 weeks into flowering, maybe more and no pistils - wishing all the while you were letting them soak up 20 hours of light.
A couple last things to check include making sure there are no light leaks as well as asking the website you got your genetics from. They might know how long that particular strain starts to show pistils and will definitely be able to say if they are just not ready yet.
Good luck.

yeaa I am in trouble.Flowering begins when the plants start to form flowers. Counting from 12/12 is totally arbitrary, because different plants take different amounts of time to transition into flower. Understanding the plant biology is an important part of being successful. It typically takes 7-14 days for plants to transition, and I've had it take closer to 20 days from sativa dominant and genetically immature plants. Just be patient, if you are freaking out after 5 days of 12/12 your in trouble. You've got 8-12 weeks a head of you before you get to harvest.
