Advice switching from HPS to LED.

Hi.
I've been thinking about switching from HPS to LED for a couple of reasons but what I've come to understand that 99% of all LED lights sold on Amazon, Ebay etc is bullshit and most people here seem to DIY and i'm not a handy guy when it comes to building light setups.
So I've been looking around for a good light (one or more) that would cover a 3.6x3.6x7.1 (90x90x200cm) tent and replace a 400-600w HPS.
Mars Pro II Epistar 160 is one of those enough for one or two plants and will I need to by a ballast for a LED light or do I just plug it in like normal?
My budget is around 650GBP, but I don't live in the UK but any seller from the UK any other good shop in Europe are welcomed so I can order it here.

Best regards.

Apart from chosing your light its i good idea thinking about how youre going to control the environment: leds grow best between 25-28C and youll be struggling if you cannot keep it +24C.

I have been doing loads of research into leds as I’m upgrading mine the links you have been given are the best to my knowledge only thing that may be an issue is your space my grow room is 120cm wide and the frame of some of the lights are 119cm so can’t get them in my tent

everything in this post is from diyleduk.

If you want to replace 400w hps, I would look into either the 260w quantum board kit with hlg driver option (270GBP) or the Scope 275w Samsung strip build (300GBP). Depending on grow style/experience both can match the yield of a 400w hps fairly easily.

For a 600w replacement I would look into the Scope 375w Samsung strip build (400GBP). Which once again can match a 600w lamp depending on grow style/experience.

The next step up that I would suggest would be 2 of the 260w quantum board kits with hlg driver option (540GBP) this would be a very intense lighting set up which would possibly require co2 depending on your environmental conditions. I would only recommend this setup to growers with a few harvest under their belts or very attentive, well researched beginners.

If you ever want to upgrade I suggest starting with the 260w quantum board kit. You can easily fit a second one in your tent. But with the strip builds you can only fit one fixture in your tent.

Also 2 260w quantum's can be dimmed down to 50% for roughly 400w hps output, 75% for roughly 600w hps output.

I personally have to recommend the 260w quantum board kit. If you want to spend as little as possible 1 kit would be a good 400w replacement. If you don't mind spending the money and want to greatly increase output over a 600w hps all the while slightly decreasing electrical consumption, I suggest 2 quantum kits

Thank you. I've been a bit confused when i've been reading about some lights for example the Mars Pro II Epistar 160 I wrote about earlier says it has 800w which would replace a 400w HPS. So I thought the Scope 375 samsung strip which have 375w would replace a 150w HPS if you know what i'm saying?
But the Scope 375 will be as 'powerful' as a 400w HPS as I understood by your post?

I want to get away from heat, because my neighbor complained about noise coming from my apartment. When I had a 600w HPS in my 150x150cm tent I had to buy bigger exhaust fans, but after the complaint i've been growing in my 90x90cm tent under a 250w HPS with a smaller exhaust fan.
So if those LED lights don't generate much heat, then I want to put up my 150x150cm tent again with the exhaust fan I have now on my smaller tent.
If I go back to the 150x150cm tent, then I would need 2 Scope 375, or can I get away cheaper and still get enough out from the lights?

I used Mars pro II 320 in 4x4 grow tent. It worked very well. There is no need to buy extra ballast. plug and play. Very convenient.

They will work but if he has the means go QB or strips I made the mistake of going viparspectra I bought 3 r300 @75 a piece I could have spent another hundred and got a much better light with my room being dialed in all I need is better lights now and I couldve just bought them from the grip.

And to the op there are plenty of options out there for those of us that arent so handy myself included. I like rapidled but alot of people prefer timber and from what I've read have better efficiency. There is also the option of reaching out to people on the forum like @whytewidow who build them at great prices...I am personally going to have him build me something yet tbd

Do yourself a favor and forget completely of Mars lights for all purposes, they will never be a good measure for comparison. Scope 375 will compare to a hps 600w more or less. 2 scope 375 should do your 150x150 great. If you want something cheaper its possible if you build it yourself.

edit: diyleduk builds lights to spec, you may wanna mention your dimensions of the space to get something that throws the light evenly as i believe the scope 375 is made for a square, rather than a rectangle (150x75).

Yeah I will have a look around. Probably will buy two of something around 300GBP each from https://diyleduk.com
