Hi!
Dont realy know if this is the right forum and if the rules allow this..
I live in Europe and its hard to find 96% alcohol here.
I have checked with customs and its legal to import everclear to my country. The Only problem is that nobody ships to EU. So my question is if any friendly soul want to help me get some. Payment by PayPal
Bye!

You should be able to get some Spirytus Rektyfikowany in the eu.
As YF notes, Poland might be a good source in Europe.

You can also re-distill lower proof vodka to its ~96% azeotropic balance using a single pass through a compound refuxing still. They will also process mash or sugar washes into 190 proof/96% ethanol.

A triple pass through a pot still can get you close enough to cleanup the rest with mol sieve or Drierite.

Destilling is as forbidden as growing weed. But i haved looked for a electric destiller like this one

Here are two Youtube Videos that may be of interest.
In the video they show how to use a 12% ABV wine ($10 for 4 liters) and process it in an "air still" to 60%, though in reality it will be closer to around 55%, then you do a second run and it comes out between 80-85%.
This process could be used for a turbo yeast wash (12-14% ABV).
Does the ethanol need to be above 85%?
80% alcohol will dissolve cannabinoids, you will just be left with more water to evaporate.
I assume your end-use for the ethanol is a QWET.
The more you reuse the alcohol for extraction the closer it will become to it's azeotrope of 95%:5%.

I hope this was helpful.

Why not make qwiso hash? Is 99% isopropyl not available from electronics vendors in the eu?
Isopropyl (Propanol 2), is a FDA Class III solvent, as is Ethanol, but the toxic limits are different.

"Solvents in Class 3 (Table 3) may be regarded as less toxic and of lower risk to human health. Class 3 includes no solvent known as a human health hazard at levels normally accepted in pharmaceuticals. However, there are no long-term toxicity or carcinogenicity studies for many of the solvents in Class 3. Available data indicate that they are less toxic in acute or short-term studies and negative in genotoxicity studies. It is considered that amounts of these residual solvents of 50 mg per day or less (corresponding to 5,000 ppm or 0.5 percent under Option 1) would be acceptable without justification. Higher amounts may also be acceptable provided they are realistic in relation to manufacturing capability and good manufacturing practice (GMP). "

Both Isopropyl and Methanol are sometimes used to denature Ethanol, with both attacking the liver and central nervous system. In addition, Isopropyl attacks the auditory nerves and Methanol the optic nerves.

Isopropyl has a Rat LD-50 oral toxicity of 1870 mg/kg and Ethanol 7060 mg/kg. For ya'll not familiar with LD-50, it means the point where 50% of the test subjects died.

http://www.labchem.com/tools/msds/msds/VT230.pdf compares the Threshold Limit Values of the two and shows Isopropyl at 200 ppm and Ethanol at 1000 ppm.

I try to use the least pernicious option when extracting, and would use Iso if 95% Ethanol weren't available, but would insure an adequate purge. With Ethanol purging is less of an issue.

Thats easy.. i dont want to put poison in me
If you are smoking the iso, you didnt do something right. One mason jar of MG 99.9% isopropy alcohol is completely evaporated out of a 14x9 pyrex dish in about 24 hrs. Leaving a white film that almost appears to be powder when scraped up. Without any sort of secondary purge.

The 96% ethanol will have 3.9% more impurities in it, some being water and the rest whatever else.

Well call me a covard :) i dont even eat fruit that has been sprayed with pesticides :)
The 3.9% must be unfermented sugar and water?

@rubadub,

What, exactly, are you looking to do? Tincture? Hash oil?

Also, keep in mind that Everclear comes in 2 different proofs. If you opt to import some, then make sure you get the high proof.

Restaurants can get even more pure ethanol for use in food preparation....not sure exactly what it's used for, or what kind of hoops you have to jump through to get it in EU, but...

Really-high proof vodka will also work, if you can get it from some fancy-shmancy booze store.
