Typical Republican.
Well, he does have a point only he's not able to back up his accusations with any evidence. The entire way it was handled by the Democratic leadership was purely a political stunt.
Dr. Ford sent her letter to them in the first part of July. In that letter, she detailed essentially the same exact story she told to the committee, but she asked to remain anonymous.
The Democratic leadership was foaming at the mouth over that letter, and they set a plan in motion MONTHS in advance.
Brett Kavanaugh's hearing was scheduled to begin September the 4th. Democrats did absolutely nothing with that letter at all until then, and what they did in essence was throw Dr. Ford under the fucking bus.
Democratic leadership had that letter two months in advance, and could easily have redacted the name and shared it with the republican leadership and the president the very day they got it.
But that's not what they wanted to do. Democratic leadership wasn't the least bit interested in having a fair, open, above board nomination process. They wanted a shit show to embarrass the president, and with Dr. Ford's letter, they had one.
So they waited until the hearing and then intentionally leaked not only the letter, but Dr. Ford's name to the media.
What happened next everybody pretty much knows.
Now, does any of that discredit Dr. Ford? Absolutely not. Dr. Ford is an honest, credible woman that suffered an attack as a teenager that she obviously still struggles with to this very day. Her coming forward took more balls than any man on this forum possesses.
It also emboldened other women who suffered at the hands of that asshole to come forward as well.
Now, whether you want to get nit picky about "it wasn't rape it was assault" is irrelevant. The man's character, or more accurately the complete lack of it, should have instantly disqualified him from making it to the highest court in the land for the rest of his life.
Barring the testimony given against him as a factor, his own outrageous behavior before the committee should have disqualified him as well. He was a completely unhinged, spoiled brat, admitted drunken asshole that was insulting to, BIG SURPRISE HERE, the women of the committee.
If there were ever any doubt of who he is and what he is, his own testimony completely removed it.
He's a drunken, womanizing, thug that should never have been nominated, let alone confirmed. The GOP lost what little bit of credibility they had left by supporting that complete failure of a shitbag. He doesn't qualify as a man, so his name and man can't be used in the same sentence.
So yes, Midwest is right in that it was a political stunt, but it doesn't (or at least shouldn't) detract from the fact that Brett Kavanaugh is a drunken, womanizing, sexual deviant, bully asshole.
