Good DIY Carbon Filter

Drugs Taught Me Metric!
Well, I am posting this because I couldn't find any other DIY Carbon Filter instruction that looked worth trying. I have tried the Carbon filter pad (replacement for like air purifiers) wrapped around a tube screen however it did not perform to my expectations and you could still smell the fine, beautiful aroma of some chronic a brew someplace in my house. So I got bored at work today and this is what I came up with. I am waiting for my Activated Carbon to arrive (tomorrow) so I can fill this biotch up but I'm positive this will work to my standards... Everything cost about $20 minus the Activated Carbon and available at any hardware store. Enjoy- let me know what you think.

Instead of gluing the End Caps together though I found it was better to drill a small hole in the center, run a bolt through with a wing nut so you can remove the cap for refills.

Also, this can be modified very easy for smaller applications... 4" reducer to 2" for example...

so is the plan to put the activated carbon in the middle? or inbetween the two peices of screen? Is it designed to be an inline filter, or not?

btw - try this one out if you want International Cannagraphic Magazine Forums - DIY pro style carbon filter
Put the activated carbon in between the two pieces of screen. It shows/says in the "End View Wireframe" on the print should be 1" thick carbon filled around. If by inline you mean, ment for intake or exhaust, I think it would work for either or. Also thanks for that link- wish I would have found that before I drew this up lol- oh well its a little different but same idea.

No prob, glad I could help. My suggestion though, would be to put some of that cotton fiber wrapped around the outside, like in the link I gave. If you don't then the carbon has a tendency to fall out and sprinkle all over everything. From what I've seen.

As far as inline, that's not really what I meant. From your original design specs, I wasn't sure if air was suposed to go in one end and out the other end. But now I realize that the air is intended to go in one end and out the sides, or vice versa.

Here is what an inline filter looks like: Inline Activated Carbon Air Filter Odor Scrubber - eBay (item 160279611765 end time Nov-03-08 07:07:40 PST)

I have been trying to find a DIY inline carbon scrubber, but havn't been able to so far.
