Shhhhhwonder if fullscan19 is confused as hell to how his thread got turned into a civil light discussion
As a matter of fact, I don't think I've ever seen one before.

I know, that's what I have and compared to HPS, these little guys kick ass. I don't understand the hate they get...they are cheap but they get it done. Some of my pals were blown away at the quality of the flowers, I stand behind them for sure.My vipars have always done great, but I can’t wait to see what my QBs harvest.
I max the shit out of everything I make, so I'm def gonna go with heatsinks.

Link to those? You dont have to "max the shit out of" strips though.. It's one of the advantages. You're literally just burning your shit out when u crank them up.. Get more strips and run them a little softer.
Those v2-96's look pretty good from hlg.. May be something to look into
lol.. in what way?
You're still talking probably 5 for a 4x4. That 500 USD plus driver. Probably going to go and get 8 QB 288 V2. Either 50 bucks each sans heatsink (5 flower, 3 veg) and add 2 to the veg room after (for flexibility) or 60-65 from Atreum's eBay page (they've accepted similar offers in the past) either that or Luminous CXM22 COBs. 5 of those are 110(plus heatsink) on cobkits. Just realised the citiczen CLUO48-1212 are on sale for like 11 bucks.... Might grab those.

Thanks. Still not sure what I'm going to do. It's a huge investment for a noob, but I think it will be worth it. I was trying to get away with a 500 budget for 2 rooms. We shall see. Those $11 cobs are tempting.ya if you can get the 288 for 50 a piece that's the way to go.. you could easily get by with 4 of the 96's in the 4x4.. good luck

12 in flower. I've been asking around, too, and you can run more a bit dimmer for better light spread.Maybe I'm confused , but 18 cobs for a 4x4 ? I think you are underestimating cob power. I would think 6, 54 watt cobs in a 4x4 would be maximum plants could handle.
They don't create nearly the same heat which normally wouldn't be an issue but my space is tight and I don't want to scorch the ladies in the summer. The energy consumption is less as well, plus I don't have the bulky ballasts to deal with or have to hear the loud humming noise all the time. Now, I did get a larger yield from the HPS on a per plant basis but in terms of quality, I've found the results to be comparable. Since the space I'm using is small anyways, the ladies have to be kinda short and my main concern isn't so much yield as it is quality. If I were in a different setting and my goal was something more aligned with the results of a commercial op, then maybe I might be thinking differently but for my needs, the LEDs are more appropriate imo. I definitely don't want to make it sound like HPS is not good as they are certainly the standard, however the LED production has both surprised and impressed me thus far.

Ok, here's a question. I can get 288V2 boards for under 50 bucks on Alibaba. The vendor has been used by forum members here and seems reputable. Should I get 10 of those (5 per tent) or get the strips? The second issue would be sourcing heatsinks for the 288v2s if I go that way. Thoughts?
