The Speaker of the United States House of Representatives is the leader of the United States House of Representatives. They are elected by the current members of the House and the person with the most votes becomes Speaker. The current Speaker of the House is Republican Paul Ryan of Wisconsin.

Trump supports Pelosi for speaker because he knows how unpopular she is. He said if Democrats won't vote for her for leadership, he'll rally Republicans in the house to support her.

You have to be an idiot to support Pelosi for speaker, she will kneecap the Democratic agenda before it ever has a chance to start. She's already committed to her pay-go bullshit that effectively ends the possibility of a medicare for all bill, one of the most popular policy positions in the country, regardless of political affiliation.

Politicians like Pelosi and Schumer have had their chance, they've failed. Numbers don't lie. It's time for someone like Barbara Lee and Sherrod Brown to take over leadership of the house and senate and time for people like Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer to retire. If you don't support progressives in leadership positions over failed dinosaurs, you're not an actual progressive. If you support Donald Trump's picks for Democratic leadership, you're not listening to the progressive base.

I think the only way Pelosi will win is with Republican support. More than enough Democrats in the house have signed on in opposition. She doesn't have the Democratic votes.

The one who gets the most votes from members of the House Democratic Caucus. They represent the people of their districts and are the ones the electorate empowered to decide. Not Cult of Sanders.
