Why does everyone dislike Auto's?

Cuz if you fuck up a little they are toast.

I have 15 autos about two weeks old and for some reason they haaaaaated being transplanted out of their baby cup. A few might make it but will be stunted one way or another because I can’t keep her in veg that extra week for recovery.

I like autos but you gotta hit em perfectly to get worthwhile results.

I really don’t know what I did to fuck up this run so bad. Turns out it’s ok tho because all my clones (photo) took off like crazy and more than made up for the loss.

Well, I've beat the tits off of these things and they have done well... maybe good luck, IDK. I suppose from what I have hear is that they don't produce a good yield, lower THC, etc.

Potency. The time bomb because you ain't changing anything. But plant one in a 7 gallon container. Seed about 1/4" in the dirt. No deeper. No wet paper towel shit. Do not water it to death. They can get damned big. Feed them. I feed half strength to start and then it's up to 1100 PPM feeds in peat mix in veg and until flowering a couple weeks. Easy on nitrogen. Transition with a balanced feed then bloom feed. I keep them around 850-900 PPM.

I use Mykos around the seed pocket faithfully. That said try Bering Sea Blues by Baked Beans Seeds. I'm an older grower and I love this stuff. Great daytime smoke and an aroma everyone freaks on.

Excellent reply @hotrodharley!.. I gotta say im pretty impressed so far. This might be my calling. People in this State just want quality smoke and quick. I talked to a guy this morning that visited various dispensaries around the Capital, and he paid ... wait for it.... $20 a gram for shit that had seeds and stems in it!.... WTF?!?! We got growers pushing junk into an emerging market, and taking advantage of Dispensaries. Gonna give the market a bad name right off the bat because they cant wait to do a proper grow/cure. BUT!.. then again, those guys have been paying rent/ utilities for months waiting on inventory.

Check out Dutch Passion and their strains involving Mazar.

Oh!... one other question.. Will these autos do ok with a 12/12 flip with my others until they mature? I just came off of 18/6.

I dont think people hate em, they have there purposes, its just as potent . They are a niche for people who dont have space for extra rooms or lots of experience growing and are a good way to cut their teeth, they work fine outdoors here in N Mi cause they grow fast and are harvested before the choppers come a snooping, the bad is they require 20+ hours of light which is a waste of electricity, they are not cloneable and they for the most part dont produce the same quantity (there are exceptions to this though) . I grew some blue auto mazar a few years back and was pretty happy with em, but i like knowing what im growing so clones are what i run, seeds are only popped when needed :)

they will work but its not ideal, you wont get peak performance from them......

from my learning id say autos would be best grow outdoors over summer because you could pull several craps in one summer as apparently autos bud regardless of light cycle so if thats true id like them
growing indoors id say i wouldn't like them because you cant clone them easily and if you stunt them you'll get a small crop
for me not being able to clone a plant is bad because why keep buying seeds when you can clone and save
my money in the future will be feminized seeds as apparently if they are bred right they will not contain any male genetics how true that is i am unsure but its what ive been told

Yup they flower from age not light cycles, and no ya cant really clone one but you can breed them to make seeds, I have friends who grow outdoors autos and usually isolate a patch to create seeds for the next year.

Feminized seeds are 99% female , I've never made or gotten a feminized seed that turned out male. Unless I'm breeding for males I just get a female clone, apply colloidal silver to it 2 times a day for about 2 weeks before I flip the lights , it'll be female but produces male flowers and viable pollen. Then just put it next to another female and let the pollen do it's job, After doing this every seed produced will be female

You can do this with just one plant by only spraying one branch of the plant and then allowing it to self pollinate but IMO it's more of a pain in the dick :) BB

What he says about light. Living in Alaska I leave them outside until it's almost freezing. Then inside under HPS for 20/4. Good yields really. Big fat top colas.

just thinking maybe autos would be good for indoors if you intend on vegging and flowering plants in the one room like perpetual growing with less moving around your plants under different light cycles

Sure it would work fine, But in my case no, My veg room is about 5 times smaller then my flower room , I think they do great in micro stealth type grows where you can run from beginning to end with one simple space .

Well.. if I had my druthers going into a new market, I may have chosen Auto fems. I had just never grown them before. Maybe after this first round, I'll give it a shot of 80-90 going into Feb. Thanks for the heads up @hotrodharley for the info!

Most legal States have only 5-20 growers for the State. We currently have over 1000 growing in sub standard conditions and some really ghetto operations. We only grow in surgical conditions from a new build. My hope is to stand out from the crowd a bit with a quality craft grow/trim/cure. There were quite a few that did autos to be first on the market, but I think their shoddy and cheating ways will thin the heard of good grower (not saying Im a good indoor grower yet), but time will tell with more experience. Indoor is so much different than outdoor.

A lot of people don't like auto's due to the ruderalis genetics that make them up.. rud is basically a ditch weed with little to no potency... why grow something that has low potency in the cross? sure, auto's have come a long way since things like low ryder and the early strains, but they still contain that ruderalis genetics, which do help them flower by age and not like cycle and can be grown in colder climates for this reason, but saying that, a lot of people would just rather grow photo's where you don't have to worry about any sort of ruderalis genetics.. my $.02

Same her bud my first auto grew great but i was deceived by the "60 day" flower time, pulled 3/4 of the plant and it was alright at best left the last 1/4 till day 90 and this stuff is great, but i had issues with over feeding, ended up having to mix seperate nutes for one little auto while still mixing 10 gal at a time for my big girls and that was frustrating. Now i got another 2 going (mephisto's) alongside a few photos and i screwed them in there first 2 weeks and now 30 odd days in you can see how much of a set back it really is. You only get 1 shot with these, there no downtime.

I grow regular seeds only. My neighbor actually bred the BSB and gave me seeds. Love the taste. But in two grows I see zero advantage to autos.

Regular seeds, sexed and vegged. Flower them all and clone the best in flower.

i got so carried away with the ruderalis thing, i completely forgot probably the biggest benefit of regs vs autos, and that's the ability to be able to maintain a clone line from a reg line.. silly me..
