36xLuminus CXM22 CRI90 or 16xSamsung LM301B Quantum Boards

Both ways sounds like a great build, maybe a bit over powered. 8 boards per 4x4 seems a lot, easy to burn plants that way.
A mix of 80 and 90 Cri usually works fine.

Only 18?! why not run more lights on lower watts!? whats your take on that?
My take, Lower watts and more light SOURCES is over rated,

these plants like INTENSITY, they dont like the "Sprinkle " of photons, they like the "downPour" of photons,

everyone is getting caught up in the "Whole Efficiency BS", that i think is driven by sellers and producers. This is why HPS users are laughing at the LED community, because I think they have it all ass-backwards,

By what metric do you measure intensity?

Efficiency is why LED users are laughing at the HPS community.

I have yet to see buds the size of HPS from SMD diodes, and if your not hitting 2gpw with LEDs, does it all really matter.?

LUX measures the intensity. Probably get slammed for it, but LED, sun, lighter, it dont matter, HPS, whatever, it dont matter, Light is light, Intensity is intensity.

allllll the lights we use, has a K rating, 3500K for ANY other source, is still 3500K, and is STILL a sustainable measure of PAR, meaning, MOST 3500K, HAS THE SAME PAR VALUE ACROSS THE BOARD, But how FAST is the PAR being pushed out, and can be measured with a LUX meter. Because ALL the light spectrum is usable, FACT, it now comes down, to INTENSITY, Because the PENETRATION value is either STRONG TOP lighting, or/and SIDELIGHTING. Penetration gets better by INTENSE lighting Bouncing Off leafs and branches, and gaps made by AIR MOVEMENT thru the leafs. Wind blows, Leaf moves WOW, there is light now shining under the canopy because the Leaf MOVED. You get better penetration of a light closer, ESPECIALLY SMD DIODES, then if you raise it.

COBS, because they are Intense, although from less sources, shines Brighter Sideways to get better penetration, even at a distance. So, you get intensity from Top AND sides. .

Ive seen some less then desired grows here, and for some reason people are happy with tiny ass buds, *shruggs, whatever, There arnt many people here crushing it with smd boards,

I would take a Mars300 with lenses anyday over these SMDs myself.

AND, I run luminus 22, and I just did you a little test. at 30 watts each, You have to be within 5 inches of the COB to get 50,000 lux. 50,000 is the sweet spot for growth.

SO, i have 4 Luminus cobs running, at 120watts, like your suggesting,

My light is 24"x 24", I have 13 inches between center to center of each cob.

Now, if i crank it up to 60watts each, I get 50,000 lux at 18in under cob, and 60,000 in the middle of the 4.

at 75 watts each cob, I get 50,000 Lux at 26 inches like a blanket over the area.

Im a idiot, so I got 1400B drivers, and these cobs still have 40% more of juice they can take. Because I was hosed by the fkn efficiency clan here.

Hi! What is the price of COB and lm301b? And why 90cri? 2 years ago 80cri was the CRI to take what did change?
About lm301b diodes I have to agree and disagree...!!! I think this light will grow better with the EU growing style so SCROG short vegg training pinching bending NO topping no CO2...just good organic soil and a fan(I know it would work with hydroponics system co2 and everything you can buy but you don't need all this to get good results!)you need to think flat and to fill the screen with plants!
If you go the way most US guys use so a very long vegg in large pots with tall plants very tall it is the way to go with a 1000w de(giving money to gavita is giving money to Monsanto :fire:)but if you grow the same with lm301b you will not get the same results of course because you need to adapt your growing technique!
So far the best crop I ever saw was Growmau5 one under cxb3590 3500k CD @700mA it was 1.9gpw and I am pretty sure he start from seeds get 6 weeks vegg no CO2 I think he had a/c in soil!!! The grow log should be here on RIU or maybe on YT I can't remember...it was the CD now you can find DB bin so 2gpw and above are possible!
I would go with the luminus and try to have 1 COB at the center of each ft2(I have 1 over each 40cmX40cm in my 4x4 so 9 @50w so 450w next build I will buy 7 more COB and use them at 25w each) I get about 1.4gpw on average so about 600g of top bud plus 50g of small buds and sugar leaves and with the short vegg and 4 or 5 plants I can do 4 crops per year so I can harvest enough for myself (8g buds and 1g hash/day)
But since I was not around since 2 years I heard recently that the citizen COB are cheaper and that some have about the same efficiency than cxb3590 at very low mA ! But I do not remember which one?
Have a lifted one

Luminus has the Best COBS on the market, pretty much proven recently. As for the CRI, the higher the better. The sun is 100, so if you can get that, lol, usin it, but you want the highest CRI u can get.

Now, here, again, is why everyone is on the Lower CRI better crap, is because you get more lumens from a lower CRI cob, the a higher one. I would trade lumens for CRI myself. Because we are tryin to replicate the sun, Go highest CRI u can find.

- 36 Luminus CXM22 3500K CRI 90, each cob @ 30 Watts, total 1080 Watts.

or:

-16 Quantum Boards 3500K Samsung LM301B 84CRI. each @ 68 Watts, total 1088 Watts.

Would love to hear your opinions,

Much Love
Both >>>> 1 board in the middle surround by Cobs with reflectors = THE PERFECT LIGHT :leaf:

I, for one, also subscribe to this method of thinking. I changed from more lower diodes boards closer to the canopy, now i run (4) 100w cobs evenly spaced further from my canopy. i noticed a difference. the canopy was thicker. budsites that i previously would have considered to be below the canopy were actually being penetrated with light and were part of the canopy.

this is of course just my bro science. but i believe this.
